In the UK the Liberal Democrats want to decriminalise personal drug use: http://news.sky.com/home/politics/article/16044208Vote Lib Dem, the way people seem to be complaining about this proposition makes me think that this proposition might be some kind of a threat to prohibition, if the people commenting on this proposition on Sky News didn't see it as a threat they wouldn't be making statements like 'The lunatics have taken over the asylum'.

They are all liars. It makes no difference whether it is 'official party policy' or not. They are liars who have no shame and will go back on what they say, who care about nothing but maintaining their positions. There is no answer. Carry on and do your own thing, just donβt put your trust in a politician. The numbers who are capable of being in power and acting for anyone but themselves is negligible.

Considering they are defunct as a credible party for perhaps the next decade or more, and will never see a hint of power save what gets doled to them by their Tory masters, they can pretty much spout any old pie-in-the-sky, hard leftie bullshit now, can't they? Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon.

All a popularity contest in which to maintain the balance of imperfection with no intention and likewise, seemingly no concept of long term progress.

I wonder if they're jumping on the back of the current anarchy in the England trying to score a few points? The trees spoke to me through the wind. The more I listened, the more they spoke.

I'm with d*l*b on this one, they are all power hungry lying scum, I will probably be putting my x by te green party next time, simply because I don't want any part in another Labour, Tory, or even Lib Dem government. I may be peasantly surprised if Lib Dem get in and actually do as they say, but some how hustory tells me that: a) they won't get into power any way, and b) even if they do, they will go against their word, and probably start yet another war. Didn't Cameron say he was going to do something about cannabis' legal status, and then go against it? Seems like a bit of a trend for that over the last 15-20 years... Its all marketingto get votes, they don't give a crap once they are in power. Lose Control, Free My Soul, Break Me Open, Make Me Whole."DMT kicked my balls off" - od3

They? It? I find it hard to have opinions on political parties, what they actually are is so vague. Your depth is your integrity

Donβt fool yourself into believing the Greens are a good, ethical party. They, in terms of their wish to control peopleβs actions, are as bad β quite possibly worse β than all the others. As a side note I would not like my posts to infer that I advocate anarchy in any of its guises as a way forward, whilst I think it is a beautiful concept I think it is totally unfeasible outside of very small groups. What is the answer? I have no clue. My view is fairly nihilistic, one of no hope and very little trust in the ability of people to act in a right, proper and honest fashion once they get any kind of power.

I didn't realize you had assholes over there on the news who speak like that too "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead

Aaah yes, that may well be the case, how ever, how likely are they to get into power? Very un... That way I still get my vote in against the people who actually stand a chance... I agree with your thoughts on power, hence my revised voting strategy These discussions always remind me of the 'dicks, pussies and assholes' speach from Team America. So true... I didn't realize you had assholes over there on the news who speak like that too Oh yes, Sky own Fox news so.... Also, you should have a read of the 'Daily Mail' that usually has some extremely sensationalist/amusing/worrying headlines and rants... You should check it out some time. Personally I am past being amused by it... Lose Control, Free My Soul, Break Me Open, Make Me Whole."DMT kicked my balls off" - od3

Not to take the subject off topic, but the current situation is reflected in a definition of anarchy. Quote:a state of disorder due to absence or non-recognition of authority or other controlling systems There have been several states of disorder due to absences of authority. I, and a lot of others, use anarchy to describe rioting, chaos, disorder so that's what I meant by it. Anyway.. back to the matter at hand. The trees spoke to me through the wind. Just to continue with the sidetracking! I subscribe to the other definitions available, Oxford dictionary online also lists: Quote:absence of government and absolute freedom of the individual, regarded as a political ideal. Although I wish it could work I donβt believe it can ever work outside of very small groups. People are unable to function without rulers, making utopian concepts like anarchy totally unfeasible. I think that the system we have in the west at the moment is about as good as it gets, as much as I hate it! Anyway, sorryβ back to the subject!

The policy proposal has nothing to do with the recent unpleasantness in any way, shape or form. Expect progressive proposals such as this to suddenly disappear, in fact, as in the fallout from the rioting the political interests of anybody below the age of 40 get systematically shat upon and buried by ministers pandering to Middle England's lust for vengeance against the young. Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon.

this has gone a bit off topic. but i shall never trust what a party says when it is not in power. they are all purely in the business of self interest, and will say only what scores points at a particular time, and will have no bones pandering to whatever the media spout on current topics at the time. all i know for a fact is that i will never vote tory. ever. fwiw. i grew in croydon. i was in there monday night and drove though the edges of the riots. a filthly scene. the people in 'power' really do not have a clue how to deal with any of this or those involved. you cannot punish/threat or take away anything from people who really don't give a shit. these are worth reading: http://nathanieltapley.c...-david-camerons-parents/http://blogs.telegraph.c...t-the-top-as-the-bottom/i post on behalf of a good friend.
