I remember when a thread not too long ago proposed a Nexus Ark in which Nexians could sail the ocean living on a seafood diet and freely as an established seafairng entheogenic community.

Well here I am presenting another similar idea as explained in this segment of Adam vs. The man.

Seasteading on the cutting edge of government

To the sea Very happy

STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

They have a nice site of their own...

http://seasteading.org/

The About section of which says the founder is Milton Friedman's grandson, and they have the backing of Paypal boss Peter Thiel. Seems they're not quite as marginal as you might think. I can see this thing gaining some real potential as a haven for internet freedom, open source development, etc. Considering the aggression governments and business are going to whip up against those two insidious threats to worldwide oppression over the coming decades, establishing a floating psychedelic retreat doesn't sound so crazy by comparison.
Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon.

I imagine such a retreat would just be looked upon as some sort of crazy hippie haven, or something to that effect, and never be taken seriouly by society. Crying or very sad

Who needs society Razz

I think it's a great idea. I can't wait until we can actually accomplish something like this.
Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

The cost of seasteading, at least in the early stages, would keep it fairly exclusive it seems. In the Times article linked on the site, Friedman estimates the cost of living there would be comparable to that of London or Manhattan, so that rules out everybody but the financially successful. Hence the first wave of residents likely to be Silicon Valley types, successful entrepreneurs, etc. morseso than your crusty hippie types or hick libertarian wackos.
