Hello everyone. I was wondering about a tek that simply requires evaporating and defatting. The idea came when making ayahuasca. I realized it would be a lot more efficient and less time consuming to make multiple doses at one time, and store the rest in a small container. But I don't like to drink ayahuasca, I like to boil it down so low that I can put it in a cap. But when you boil it down low enough, it might start getting gooey and difficult to use. So I wondered if a few defats are done on the tea with naptha, would this allow the solution to be boiled down all the way? Then I figured throw in some fumaric acid, and the result of total dehydration might even be in solid form. The same method could be used for harmala plants as well.

Just thought I'd get peoples thoughts on this before I try, as I dont' want to waste plant material if it won't work. Has anyone ever tried evapping mimosa down to nothing? Does it work, or does it just turn to unusable goo?

SWIM absolutely thought she was a genius when she came up with brewing (separately) Rue and MHRB in water with some vinegar for several hours, reducing, and finally evaporating in a baking dish in the oven. It worked really, really well. Too well, her first time, as she didn't think to weigh the extracts out before putting them into the gelcaps.
*Ahem*
She really enjoys drinking her aya, and has enough fumarates that she would never need to do it with MHRB (at least, forseeably) but the taste of Rue makes her retch now and so if she were ever going to work with rue instead of doing a Manske, this is how she would do it.

Edit: The Rue was always fairly easy to collect, but the MHRB extract was slightly sticky and very difficult to scrape off the glass, crystalized like a sheet of very strong... something... crystalized steel!

Nice. So you evaporated the rue completely without any defat and added fumarate? Or did you just evap it without fumarate? Was it a resin?

So you're saying the MHRB did work, but it turned in to extremely hard resin? I wonder if a defat would help. I am encouraged by a post I recently saw by fractal_enchantment. He says that he boiled chaliponga and did 8 defats, and when evapped, it turned to a black powder. This would be the ideal thing for me because I find that even fumarates extracted with the aromatic hydrocarbons aren't quite the same as boiled mhrb. I've always suspected that pulling alkaloids with solvents doesn't quite get everything. But a simple boil and evap should leave everything in perfect form.

This was all before learning to use fumarates. Just evaporated the the boils. The Rue was more crystalline, not sticky at all.

It certainly had a different character from extracted spice, so you're probably on to something.
