As my first official post with some actual content I decided that I should post some photos of all the different types of plants I grow. I have only been doing this for about 2 years but it is one of the most amazing and rewarding, I don't want to say hobby because it's so much more...you know? Anyways onward to the plants, Untm attached the following image(s): IMG_0290.jpg (95kb) downloaded 497 time(s). IMG_0511.jpg (89kb) downloaded 494 time(s). Wow those are some healthy looking plants! Beautiful! Looks like you have plenty of time WELL spent over the last two years. And it looks like you've found a nice nitche for your self as well. Awesome job! The tragedy of life isn't that it's too short, it's that we take too long to begin it...

Very beautiful plants. But is it possible, that the cacti have to less light?

Are you saying the cacti have too much or too little light? If it's too little, light around here is scarce so I try to have them out as much as I can. I actually put them in the shade today because I thought L. williamsii grew in semi-shade conditions and I'm trying to get the T. bridgesii and T. peruvians well adjusted to more light because I have read that they will do well in full sun. I think they have too little light. They should not look like that. When cacti become long and thin, that means that they get too little light in the growth phase. You are right when you say that l.williamsii grows in semi-shade conditions, but thats in his natural habitat where it is hotter in summer. Mine are standing the whole summer in full sunlight. I can post pictures tomorrow if you want.

peyote (lophophora williamsi) grows in the desert. i have gone to the ritual several times. its hot as hell where it grows, and it doesnt grow always in shade. and cold as hell at night. its mexican desert. it would be nice if you grow some Larrea tridentata, peyotes best friend. he grows under her, when you look for peyote in the desert, you look first for "la gobernadora". under her peyote lyes. I am with those man who own that particular kind of courage of the interior voyager.

That would make sense, I was curious myself why the cacti were growing their wispy stalks; thanks for your insight I'd love to see some of your photos. I have been dealing with a large mealy bug infestation on all my cacti recently that's why they were all laid out on table like this so I can treat them easier. I will move them back upstairs after where I have a bright grow light and full window sun, the temperatures there I keep around 85-90 F and they were loving it before they got infected. Those are some really beautiful Lophophos ganjaman, I defiantly need to get mine out in brighter light for the whole day. Maybe my greenhouse would be better suited but it has high humidity, those blooms look very healthy wow! Look at what I found growing in my Turbina corymbosa. Untm, I hope I can eventually grow a garden like that. Right now I'm pretty limited, but I try. The loph's look amazing. how long have you had them? Let the plants guide you, for they teach lessons beyond what we humans can offer. Distorted is our perception of reality, because reality is much more distorted than we could ever perceive it to be.

@ untm: haha a little mushie growing in there. A greenhouse woul be good, but if you have high humidity in there your cacti will begin to rot. Just give them as much sun and light as possible.but if you do it, do it slowly, everyday a little more, or they will burning. I grow mine very hard, that means i give them very little water, and very little fertilizer, so they become stronger. But that is with lophophora, with trichocereus you can give more water,no problem. @tigerstrike92 I have them for 6 years now- the big one is about 30 years old...

The largest one I have is 9 years old now followed by the second largest at 4 years old, the three tiny ones I have in the pot were taking for the 9 year old and are just about a year old now. I have moved them inside underneath my full sun grow light and I have a small heating pad underneath them to help dry them out a bit, I am doing ethanol treatments with cotton swabs to help keep the mealy bugs from breeding, does anyone else have problems with fungus gnats? Any suggestions? Tea fell into water Smoalk N,N DMT errrrday Quote:11:53:11 ‹Untm› Nexus chat and anti-gravity simulated racing is my coffee.

I love it.
I too am botanically obsessed and have been since I was very young.
I really like the idea that plants are our allies.
