K,
insulting your ex here on the Nexus is a turn off. It really helps no one... Consider editing your post?

Bupropion, according to the British National Formulary, suggests avoiding use with, or for 2 weeks after MAOIs and specifically states avoiding concomitant use with meclobemide ie MAOI A (RIMA); IMO I would suggest you avoid taking harmalas with Buproprion.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

You cannot take DMT containing ayahuasca with SSRIs since it contains Capii or Rue which are MAOIs. Vaped DMT is fine in combination with SSRIs but some believe the SSRIs might supress a little bit of the magic. If you can get off of the SSRIs, all the better. Sorry your life got too complicated. That was then, this is now. Peace.

More specifically, the major risk is the so called 'serotonin syndrome'. This is a complex of agitation, delirium, hypertonicity, seizures, hyperpyrexia and variable elevation of heart and respiratory rates. Blood pressure is not usually elevated, but coma and even death may ensue.
There was hope that, because of its reversibility, moclobemide would be safer than non-selective MAO inhibitors in combined regimens, but at least 5 cases of fatal interactions have been reported after overdoses of moclobemide and SSRIs. There is currently insufficient evidence to state that such interactions do not occur at therapeutic doses, or with natural reversible MAOIs like caapi and syrian rue, which are necesssary for ayahuasca to work.
This SSRI contraindication also applies to SNRI antidepressants like: Duloxetine (Cymbalta) Venlafaxine (Effexor, Effexor XR)and Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq)

I am on SSRI's and have vaporized freebase DMT. DO NOT get off your meds and then take a psychedelic drug. This could be very bad for your mental health. Although you may be fine now, stopping an ssri changes your brain chemistry, especially if done cold turkey. Just like when starting an ssri you may experience anxiety or panic, deppression, and other issues. All of which are much worse under these powerful mind altering substances. If you decide to stop with the medicine please let your dr. Know. You don't have to tell him it is to do drugs, but just say you feel better. If the ssri's are out of your system, half life is different for each medicine, and you feel stable, then please explore your conciousness. While on ssri's in my experience the visuals of many trips, depending on the substance, are decreased. When doing DMT, I observed a very shroomy, flowing and beautiful world. I also had a great mental trip. But it is no where as intense as a full breakthrough. I experienced ZERO CEV's. If you are attempting to enter hyperspace you mustn't be on an ssri, but if you want a positive experience IMO you can use DMT safely with ssri's as long as you feel stable on them, and haven't just changed your dose or regimen. Do not take any MAOI's with ssri's. Good luck!
We are surprisingly similar.

SSRI's definitely decrease the effects of DMT. I was on 20mg of Lexapro each morning for anxiety related issues a couple of years back and tried smoking approximately 20mg of DMT in an enhanced leaf blend and though I did receive effects it was pretty muted. CEVs were there but dim, almost like a blanket had been thrown over them. The initial onset rush was still present and I experienced the euphoric effects and music sounded great but the overall effects were probably closer to what a 10mg dose would be like. Basically, SSRI's compete at the same receptor sites as DMT and that's what helps dampen the effects...

The upside of this was that this prompted me to get off the Lexapro (though I still continued on with Mirtazapine at nights for sleep related problems at the time... I am off these now too). I think there is a time and a place for antidepressants but a lot of GPs are too eager to prescribe these to people for general life related stress instead of chemically imbalanced problems (though life related stress can pull people into very bad places and if SSRI's help people away from impaired life or possible suicide then that can be a good thing).

Glad to see you have found peace and are ready to move on from the meds Khrynisx Smile
