I sure hope I'm wrong, but I have to ask.

I have always had an issue with getting spice to work. I got some good advice about MAOIs, and it was helping.

However, a couple weeks ago I took a sharp blow to my right temple which dazed me for a minute or two, and left a bruise for about a week. Since then, spice will not work no matter what I do.

Please tell me there isn't some part of my brain that is broken -- i.e., something integral to the process in that location.

Also, perhaps someone knows whether gingko is an acceptible reversible inhibitor for the purpose, and at what dosage?

Thanks.

Hmmmm. I always thought I had problems getting it to work properly as well, but eventually I realized it was just my smoking technique. So are you certain you're not just burning it too much somehow?

A few weeks back I had a fairly bad bike wreck and got a nasty concussion; I was unconscious for 10-20 minutes (no idea exactly how long but long enough to wake up in an ambulance). Days later I was still in a lot of pain and decided to smoke some D just for the opiate-like effects, thinking I would be too distracted by the head wound to worry about actually tripping. I smoked a lot and it basically ended up being a lot more intense than I bargained for. Obviously the brain is super complex and there's no way to tell how a head injury will affect cognition and whatnot but yeah, in my case at least DMT still works just as well concussion or no.

Anyway my theory is that your vaporization method is the problem and that's what most people here would say. The best thing I can tell you is to make absolutely sure you're not burning the spice, and you want at least 3 *DENSE* hits of vapor. Less I suppose if you're using a V.G. but I suspect you wouldn't be having problems if that were the case.

Excuse me, but what "Opiate like effects" are you referring too? This is the first time, someone characterized DMT as "opiate like".

To the threadstarter: Do not panic, perhaps see a neurologist to make sure there is nothing wrong with your brain. After you have established that, you can try again and check your smoking technique etc..

To me the DMT body high feels extremely nice, and it does seem to relieve pain/inflammation even in very small amounts. These are the opiate like effects I refer to.

dmt works on the 5htp receptors, no (or some other receptors, I don't know which tbh, but they are def. receptors which live in cell-membranes)? So unless your head injury destroyed all your receptors - in which case you would be having other noticeable problems I would imagine, and which is as far as I understand it pretty unlikely to have happened - it's probably just a matter of administration technique. are you vaping or dosing orally? Do try to find a good manual vaporizer like the VG family or something similar; you will waste less. And less wasted means less mimosa trees being subjected to root-harvesting in the end, which I imagine is not the healthiest thing for a tree to go through...

In the absence of:

1.Loss of consciousness when the head injury happened;

2.Subsequent unprovoked vomiting;

3.Subsequent drowsiness;

4.Subsequent confusion;

5.Subsequent double-vision or persistent blurring of vision;

6.Subsequent unilateral weakness or incoordination;

7.Persistent headache WITH vomiting/drowsiness/neck stiffness;

8.Being on anticoagulant medication or regular high dose aspirin;

9.Significant cut to the head at the time of the head injury,

You dont have much to worry about.DMT effects will not be attenuated by a trivial head injury; methinks your smoking/vaping technique needs addressing.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I hope nobody will think less of me when I tell you this, but...

Okay, McKenna and others have documented a percentage of people for whom DMT appears to be inactive. I'm not sure if it's the same reason for everyone, but I can tell you that last week I smoked probably six grams of spice that I mede myself, that was clean and pretty and a very great blessing, that others said really rocked --- and nothing happened. Nothing.

I am very science-oriented, and I have a lot of self-esteem attached to doing things right. If something will vaporize with the lighter six inches away, that's what I do.

You know how some people use reversible MAOIs like harmaline to lengthen the DMT experience? What it is, is just that I need them for it to work at all. Happily, I have just found out that harmaline is still legal where I live. (Gingko works, but it seems to take two days to absorb enough to help, and now I'm out of it.)

Does somebody know a source that will deliver it fast?

I'm pretty sure DMT is an extreme NMDA antagonist. I'm not a scientist, but I have had my fair share of dissociatives and know the body load very well. (pretty sure a lot of the important/sacred entheobotanicals are for purpose of astral/inter dimensional travel)
Anyways, yeah. If DMT STOPPED working for you because of a head injury I think you would noticed a change in other aspects of your brain. I think you're probably ok. Also, do you own a scale?

DMT does not affect NMDA or opioid receptors and I'm familiar with opiates and dissociatives. Pay more attention to your highs and you will see that DMT has no opiate-like or dissociative-like effects, the reason you may believe that it does is because of the extent of the effects but DMT's effects are all serotonin receptor agonist-based.

Paying attention my highs is what led me to believe it in the first place. I have tried at least seven different dissociatives and relate the body load of DMT to other dissociatives I've tried. I probably should have looked at the wiki before making that statement though.

Well, I found some esphand, and made a decoction with some wine. (yes, I know wine is counterproductive.) It worked very well, and I was so happy! However, I guess there's a fine line between enough and too much --- I wound up a bit ill. So now I guess I will extract the harmaline from the seeds. Does someone know whether I swallow it or what, and what a reasonable dose is?

Yes. And I've been around the block a lotta times, LOL. So sadly, I was not exaggerating. Alas.

If you extract the esphand I suggest using the Tao of Rue Extraction Tek

Once you've got your extracted harmalas, for harmine the dosage starts at around 200 - 250mg. For harmaline you only need between 100 - 150mg.

I put my harmalas in gelcaps but feel free to get innovative with it.
