[that is, they cannot be legally imported to Australia, including by accessing via the internet] "if they contain... detailed instruction in matters of crime or violence, [or] the use of proscribed drugs..." ( source) That said, I really don't see anything on the forum that I would term "elitism." There are straightforward guidelines about what may and may not be discussed, for practical reasons. There are some straightforward attitudes that we expect to be adhered to. Disagreement is encouraged, as long as the disagreement is discussed in respectful tones. Things such as selling drugs, dosing people without informed consent, and generally acting like an idiot and risking blowing yourself up when doing an extraction are strongly discouraged, both because these things have the potential to attract negative attention to the drugs in question, and because such behaviors generally are born out of a lack of either respect or mindfulness. I don't see these things as elitist, but rather as means of protecting the value of the forum and the tone of discussion that goes on here. If someone object to the attitudes that lay the foundation of the forum, that's perfectly fine. Everyone is on their own path. But there are other outlets more amenable to the manner of discussion that is beyond the scope of this forum's allowed discussions and attitudes. I do my best not to judge people, and accept the paths they are on (so long as they aren't harming others in the process), but I also appreciate the sort of community that is fostered on this forum.

Shameful. Can you please give some examples of this? I have a hard time understanding why you would say such a thing. We have the nursery for good reasons: * Trolls can only destabilize the Nursery for a short time. Because we only have to check the nursery we have extra time to keep an eye out. * Spam: same reason as with the trolls. * Suppliers: they cannot infiltrate the forum that easy anymore, new members cannot make posts in the suppliers section. I can understand that at times it's hard for people to see why we would have a nursery but on the other hand you might ask yourself why it is that you almost never see any trolls hanging around and spam posts being made. In the nursery new members can post the same things as what is allowed in the rest of the forum (except the suppliers post which belong in the suppliers section). As Entropymancer pointed out we have guidelines here for practical and legal reasons, if you don't like them then please provide some viable alternatives, I'm always open for improvement. Kind regards, The Traveler

Posting etiquette and the scientific mentality of the nexus as Ive learned it thus far ~ Everyone has their own personal views and life experience and that is what makes us all individuals and shapes our worldviews, I believe these differences are as varied and unique as fingerprints. the purpose of this forum as I've come to learn as of late is for us to pool our knowledge and experience to try and further our collective understanding of the great mystery. I agree with terrence mckenna when he says that ideologies only hold us back, so how can we further our growth without submitting to a group ideology? I cant believe I'm saying this now but after a lot of reading and soul searching I believe the best tool we have at our disposal to generate any kind of ontological consensus is science. I don't believe what our current science tells us about everything is true however I do believe its the best we have at this time, its the only way to talk about these topics and get anywhere or like traveler said its just philosophical masturbation. I like a lot of things science has going for it and its given our race more than any religion has, not to say religion doesn't have its place because I believe it does, I believe there are some things science isn't able to tell us at the moment but thats not to say that it cant in the future. I think in our discussions here we should try to leave our emotions at the door when entering threads where scientific facts can be provided. I've read and re read some threads about this issue and after analyzing them as objectively as I can I think the only way we will get anywhere is by adhering to this rule in the nexus attitude page. When I say get anywhere I mean as a group, I think its fine to talk about subjective ideas as long as they aren't presented as an established fact and members can take what they want from them and further their own personal philosophys based on what feels right to them. I want to thank the moderators here who have been so patient with people like myself when these discussions come up, It really says a lot about you guys and your real desire to help others grow. Trav, you know how to pick em my friend, rereading posts by moderators like snozzleberry I can see that they are pretty well intellectually bulletproof not to say there isn't room for growth for some very smart members here I'm just saying they are doing a VERY good job. PS~ snozz I know you love a good debate and I look forward to future discussions with you when I'm properly prepared. with love and humility ~Ray "I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect." Well said, Ray. I feel a bit upset being so hard on you in the past. I'm sensitive to Interweb peoples and just a bit short with those I'm not familiar with (esp. ones who start divisive topics in a community I feel protective of) -- and I miscategorized you. Seeing you take others' criticism to heart and making it constructive shows someone with a good heart willing to learn and grow with the community. Glad to have you around! a1pha, that really means a lot to me, thank you. ever since we exchanged sharp words I've been thinking about it all the time, I've re read the threads many times analyzing what was said and eventually came to my conclusion. Words are powerful things and it can be hard to represent who you really are in a forum like this and very easy to misrepresent yourself with a few careless posts, I was quick to judge your position when more thought was clearly needed on my part. I'm going to be really thinking about things before I post from now on. This forum is a lot like dmt, just when you think you have it all figured out..... you realize you didn't . look forward to future discussions "I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect." Ray, I honor you for your expression of openness and broadening perspective. IMO yours is:
1) the process we should be seeking with entheogen experience 2) the attitude which should inform our posting 3) the magic of the Nexus, which imbues this forum and exerts a positive influence on us all
You set a fine example for everyone!

All cool with the rules, but just to play 'devil's advocate' for a moment............... what about Art Van'dlay ?? He has permission to say anything ....... I know he is 'special' having read some of his posts, and I'd hate to get on the wrong side of him (or anyone for that matter)... so I will tread carefully, however, I love some of the arguments I must admit. Its like watching people learn... socialise/internet = community I feel a little guilty here though, having taken (over the past year or so) info from the Nexus, which has helped me immensely.... and have not yet found a way to make myself useful to the community, but I have that intention. Why would you dig up a thread that's over a year old to just have a dig at Art? This certainly isn't a good way to help the community. INHALE, SURVIVE, ADAPT it's all in your mind, but what's your mind??? fool of the year

Who cares if anyone says swim ? What's the big deal? Isn't there more serious things to worry about ? I dunno... it just comes off as trying to control a little bit too much. Swimmers - just know that it is not actually necessary, but feel free. Art Van D'lay wrote:Smoalk. It. And. See.

Big deal...? Maybe not. If the purpose of this site is to share and spread information in a good format then there is no place for SWIMing here, the phrase or word SWIM makes things harder to read, is ugly and not required. I doesn't help anyone or anything, it has no real benefits and it almost ruins the information for posterity requiring that material be retyped and rewritten to be more conducive to good conversations... not a big deal, perhaps the use of SWIM is just trying to control a little bit too much... /

I don't agree that you can use my argument against my own argument in this instance. This is a case of the many against the few who already feel uncomfortable, and I do not blame them as free speech is being eroded more and more. I really do not think SWIM is something which needs to be ousted with such passion. Like I said it really is not necessary at all and I do think it is important that people know this, but don't take away peoples choice to use it after they have been made aware of the fact. Instead, why not make a sticky topic in the welcome area explaining this ? Would that not be more productive ? Art Van D'lay wrote:Smoalk. It. And. See.

Instead, why not make a sticky topic in the welcome area explaining this ? Would that not be more productive ? Free speech and SWIM? Do you genuinely think that someone is being infringed upon if they are discouraged from writing SWIM? I would set the board up to replace it with the word "retard" were it up to me. I think the most productive thing is to eliminate it altogether. Some profanity isn't allowed here either, and I find the word SWIM to be pretty offensive. I know of boards that openly and aggressively prevent SWIMing and they are better off for it, it just makes those who use it seem a lot more ignorant than they actually are and gets in the way... I mean, what is the point of it? What purpose or benefit does it have? All it does is make things more obnoxious, it has no legal benefits and there is no reason to use it.

Some language is not allowed here, that is true for most (...) members... As with any offensive word it is down to the reader to be offended by it or not, but i don't think SWIM is quite in the league of something such as C U Next Tuesday for example. I have been a member of this forum for some years now, and I have seen that as soon as it comes to light to a SWIMMER that it is not needed and is indeed discouraged, they stop saying it. I fail to see how it is obnoxious. Replacing it with the word 'retard' belies a fundamental lack of respect towards members, something which could be avoided by simple means of enlightening new members to the issue, in the form of a sticky or something like that.
