I've just recently started researching biochemical process involving psychoactive compounds,
more notably, psychedelic compounds. I still find it somewhat difficult to truly understand
how these processes work, at least to the best of the knowledge available to us. My question,
or my plea, is to ask the good members of this community for some advice on getting a firm
handle on all of this. Better yet, a perspective is something I need when applying it to
this subject. I'd really appreciate some advice with this.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Understanding this topic in depth requires a background in neurobiology, biochemistry, and cell biology (and basic physiology doesn't hurt, either). Without that knowledge it's difficult to meaningfully utilize information about specifics.

Generally, wikipedia addresses many of topics that come up QUITE WELL, with links to related topics to help with areas you don't understand. It's probably your best first choice to get an overview. Also youtube often has useful videos on particular topics in these fields; a search there can often be productive.

Without coming to the subject with a strong background as described above, the best you can do is to read anything and everything interesting on the topic, and further investigate those areas that confuse you or on which you see yourself as weak.

Yeah, pubmed has a few good articles once you know some keywords too.
All these posts are on behalf of Stimpy, my yellow bullhead. He is an adventurous fish, and I feel his exploits are worth sharing...so much so, I occasionally forget that HE is the one who does these things. Sometimes I get caught in the moment and write of his experiences in the first person; this is a mistake, for I am an upstanding citizen who never does wrong. Stimpy is the degenerate.

Yeah, wikipedia has served me well. They offer a research database that
fits distinctively for my tastes and endeavor for depth information. I actually
stumbled upon Khan Academy some time ago and must recommend it to
anybody in need of refreshing their skills or learning the nitty gritty. It's
helped me understand a lot of concepts and helped me with other academics.
Glad I can count on you guys, thanks for your replies!
