Complete transparency in the world. What would this do? Playing off of LulzSec's latest target the Arizona state Police Department & the fight against immigration laws(440 megabytes of documents and data dating back several years), I felt that this was completely relevant to many topics here on Nexus. Ones that discuss human nature (i.e., greed) or revolutions - both violent and passive. Could true transparency be a real solution for mankind, one that doesn't call for revolutions every so-many generations to keep things in check?

Humans tend to be afraid of the unknown, I suppose.

On a similar note, North Korea has been training hackers, so without a doubt, cyber-warfare has and will play an important part in today's conflicts.

Transparency is part of the solution. Some people choose to delude themselves even when things are apparent. So, transparency through technological means is not key, but rather supplementary to a true revolution. If given the paradigm of a government with transparent methodologies (open government), I'm fairly certain its citizenry would be less prone to violent revolutions, because a government in which all of its actions/intentions are transparent would be less likely to act in an undesirable fashion.
"'Most men will not swιm before they are able to.' Is not that witty? Naturally, they won't swιm! They are born for the solid earth, not for the water. And naturally they won't think. They are made for life, not for thought. Yes, and he who thinks, what's more, he who makes thought his business, he may go far in it, but he has bartered the solid earth for the water all the same, and one day he will drown."

Hm, is it possible that certain entities may behave responsibly if held perpetually accountable for their actions? Shocked

But how do you know when the government is being transparant? I don't think the internet has made anything more transparant for us. There's probably more bullshit circulating in the media than ever before.

it did, for a moment.
the violent uprisings in Egypt and Libya are a direct result of the wikileaks cables.
A lot of damaging information can be obtained from media, it's a matter of sifting though
the bullshit, and filtering out worthless commentary and sensationalism. Media subconciously
tries to appeal to emotions to influence public opinion.
Instead, look at the stories objectively, and look for descrepancies.
