Ok so my scavenger hunt concluded of (keep in mind this stuff looks just like all the pictures on google image)
!. a 3-4ft tall bluish green grass. at a internode were a leaf stems from main branch a transparent ligule this was were my attention was directed to....now my question is are there other strains of reed grass not growing in a sod form with transparent ligules at stem/branch internodes growing in the northeastern US....pictures can be uploaded just looking for a response first also looking for a sure fire way of identification,......thanks

Its commonly mistaken with Dactylis glomerata.
Phragmites is way taller...
Most other lookalikes (there are many) do not grow in groups as Phalaris does.
Hope this helps.

I am not 100% sure but i have been looking for this plant for a bit and i think i found it. The transparent ligule is how i identified it, also Bulbous canarygrass(Phalaris aquatica)is the other strain of reed grass that has DMT in it or so i have been told. Here is some good info on Phalaris Arundineca hope it helps you.

What I've read is Aquatica contains the highest amount of alkaloids, can't really find alot of information on Aquatica but it's possible it's what I found.. It was single strands of grass in a loose cluster grew to 3-5 ft membranous ligules about 1/4in in length bulbous almost looked like an elbow on places of the 1/4in thick stem...growing by a creek wetisb area...also say I do find this supposed canary reed..an I do the straight to base ex. Whats to say I pull NN..pharlis contains 3 different alkaloids I think are NN(good stuff), 5meo(less visual more intense body)(not as desirable),an OH(which I'm pretty sure is toxic)...I'm only looking to pull NN with I'm sure some 5meo...how would you further break apart the alkaloids when you already have salt form....getting off topic.....if you guys want pictures I got a whole backyard of this stuff exactly as I described...let me know

Yeah i had the same problem with finding info on Phalaris aquatica. If you could post a pic of what you found it would be of more help to me, i found my Phalaris arundineca at a creek too. As far as the extract tek goes i have heard you can smoke it dried with an MAOI and it works. So i imagen that it only contains good alkaloids but im not 100% sure on that, I would not eat or smoke it with a MAOI unless you are 100% sure, please be safe.

Disclaimer: Performing DMT extraction is a potentially dangerous chemistry procedure, and is illegal in most countries.

~In a later publication, "The Entheogen Review", DeKorne has more information on Phalaris extraction:
"The latest scoop is that you don't even have to use chemical extractions anymore - run several handfuls of grass through a wheatgrass juicer (sold in most health food stores) and you'll wind up with a glass or so of incredibly potent liquid. One teaspoon (with MAO inhibition, of course), is a standard dose with strong grass. Only two teaspoons proved very challenging to one of my correspondents - an OD! The juice can be dried and smoked in a bong - two tokes will usually do it." ~

When DeKorn says that one teaspoon was challenging, I tend to wonder if he means felt toxic and sketchy due to weirld undesirable alkaloids. If so then yes, his report would be consistant with mine.

Sure there is something in phalaris arundinacea, and it did feel like a tryptamine, probly NN..and once I felt like I got a good dose of what I suspect was 5meo. But light visuals barely noticable on my wall followed by over an hour of toxic feeling overstimulation just sucks. I want that visual tryptamine feeling alkaloid out of the stuff and purified. It just seems hard to do and you need so much of the stuff. Luckily it grows everywhere here.

I would NOT suggest anyone just take this stuff orally.

"OH(which I'm pretty sure is toxic)..."

The LD50 for bufotenine is higher than that of DMT. It might make you sick but I have taken tons of it and it is definaitly very psychedelic. It can feel toxic but I dunno if that means it is.
Long live the unwoke.

~Some Phalaris species contain gramine, which can cause brain damage, other organ damage, central nervous system damage and death in sleep.~

~Leaves of P. arundinacea contain DMT, 5-MeO-DMT and related compounds.[4] Levels of beta-Carbolines have also been reported.~

yes im well aware of the toxins in the phalaris strains (i always Read up about something before i embark on a journey) ....what im looking to find out tho is if there are other strains of reed grass growing in the pennsylvania area with membraneous ligules. cause every grass ive examined seemed to have a sort of hair like ligule or a membraneous one...also phalaris takes on a purple color at the base towards the root system and at the top were the seeds are produced.......over the weekend i might have struck gold...i was in a field and all around the field you can see clusters of slightly taller darker green or more bluish tinted grass growing 3-5ft purple discolorations at the base an tops of the grass, membraneous ligules, semi thick leaves steming from main shoot coarse feel to the leaves on both sides top an bottom ( almost like the tongue of a cat)....i can not describe anymore in detail then that lol...an i cannot post pictures now due to the fact that my phone was stolen lastnight......any help in identifying this is greatly appreciated an if not thanks anyway

hey guys check this my first post specifically to talk to you!

Ok background foaf is a wizard he has been doing this for a very long time making spice that is foaf has tried it many ways and had very good results. foaf lives in britain where spice is becoming mainstream which he hates muchly as it brings legislation with it. foaf doesnt really believe everyone should be doing spice and disproves even more of them brujas that sell spice for profit.

background out the way foaf wants to get sum answers!!!

ok so we have all heard reports of phalaris arundica containing levels of certain alkaloids specificaly 5meo dmt, dmt and probably nn-dmt it has also got beta carbolines (very interesting) and the one that is bad gramine which seems to have a very negative effect on the body much like other amines in their natural state ie ergotamine (see lsd and or st anthonys fire).

FOAF strongly disagrees with trying this raw like suggested in the update foaf tried to find the original and could not foaf is asking if anyone knows of the original of this statement could they please link it or message me. Not only does this plant contain beta carbolines which foaf has always understood to have a maoi action (correct if wrong foaf is lazy n will not google that) it contains gramine aswell which is very useful for amino acid synth but bad on foafs brain and organs which are in bad shape as it is. foaf was wondering how ever if anyone knew any information about this substance.

For instance can it be de natured and or removed from phalaris soup? foaf believes this is what space cadets should be aiming for? it ses foaf could smoke said dried product one or 2 tokes will addle his brain foaf reads..... for a plant soup with what foaf is lead to believe has roughly 0.01% dmt alkaloids this seems unbelievable as foaf often smokes many tokes of pure dmt spice.

Could foaf n fellow cadets have misinformation here?

Foaf has many phalaris plants in his gurilla gardens from last year when he went a lil crazy with a bag of grass seed. foaf is not just a wizard foaf is a botanist too!!! and in foafs opinion one should be careful when collecting ANY wild plant as U may not be a botanist. foaf would like to make clear there are many species in said genus of phalaris and many more grass genus that have ligules. FOAF would also like to point out discolouring is not a good way of identifying said species of genus as discolouring in grasses could very well be a nutrient deficiency in the wild where nutrients are not always as readily available.

Foaf reccomend said cadets should buy seed and make small gurilla gardens for said power plants growth and weed it of any other weedy species to ensure a correct stock of plants.

Could we please brainstorm ways we could isolate the spice as opposed to concentrating on foraging techniques as this is a weedy power plant and with seed can be planted anywhere. foaf did not even prepair a bed for said power plant and it grew in big clumps.

Foaf believes the juicer is a good idea and perhaps drying aswell as surely it would require less of a ph drop dry? (no excess water to water down the acid). perhaps foaf n friends could use fumerate or acetate or even cirtic and convert spice into acid spice and then dry and heat to 100degree celsuis would this be enough to denature the gramine without destroying acid salt or does said gramine acidify too and in which case into what n what effect on structure? Foafs scepticle of this process because of said gramine. gramine is zee enemy and foaf will research said chemical and see what he can find and asks u do the same???

Welcome to the Nexus!

You revived a year-old thread which lacked some important information we have nowadays. Check my signature link and the links in the first post for a lot more info on phalaris.

Be well!
