Recently in discussion about caapi leaf soaking in solvents such as ethanol for making changa, SWIM was told that 11x infused herb is a very harsh smoke. SWIM imagines this is due to the amount of chlorophyll and plant waxes stripped from the caapi in the long soak and then re-infused in the caapi rendering it a harsher, more waxy smoke. If the active ingredients are in solution in the alcohol, SWIMS question is could you not freeze precipitate your filtered caapi menstrum and then re filter out the undesired plant waxes and chlorophyll and other contaminants, leaving you with a much cleaner less foul tasting and much smoother menstrum for infusing your caapi and/or other herbs? SWIM knows this technique is used successfully in cleaning solvent washes of cannabis flowers and leaves, I don't know scientifically why it shouldn't work with caapi. I can't post this in the harmala section or the changa section, so hopefully somebody sees this.
