So I was watching this movie about how to adjust a laserpen so the beam becomes hot enough to burn.
http://kipkay.com/featur...ke-a-laser-pointer-burn/

It's amazingly simple. It will require only buying a laserpen (This Laserpen,
wedging out the button and turning the screw underneath to adjust the intensity of the beam.
On the video you see it easily and quickly lights a match and pops a balloon.

I imagine this beam is probably hot enough to quickly evaporise freebase DMT and similair alkaloids.
And if it's not hot enough I guess the beam could be further intensified by hooking the laser up to more batteries untill it is hot enough.
I don't know if the intense light will destroy the DMT rather than evaporise it, but the laser doesn't have to directly hit the DMT/alkaloids.

Here's an idea how to build a simple Vaporiser, heated by a Laserbeam:

The Bowl:
If you were to cut out a circle of tin from empty beer/soda-cans, burn/scrape the paint off, make a cut in the circle and fold it into a cone-shape,
then you'd have a nice, heat-conductive bowl. Make the point of the cone flat.

The Chamber:
You could saw off the bottom of a lightbulb fitting, get a screwdriver in there and wiggle the inside glass structure and wires loose. Take it out.
You will have an empty bulb with a hollow fitting, open at the bottom. If you made the bowl just small enough it can fit snugly into the fitting.
Really jam the bowl stuck into the fitting.

The Mouthpiece
Drill 2 holes in the fitting, opposite of eachother, slightly above where the cone touches the inside of the fitting.
In 1 hole you stick a thin pyrex tube(I will use one from a simple vaporiser I have laying around).
The other hole will allow outside air in. It also serves as an acces hole for DMT or other crystals to be dropped into the Tin bowl.

The Heating Device; Upgraded laserlight.
You should attatch the laserpen below the bulb's fitting so that the laser shines from a distance of about 5 centimeters directly on the flat point of the upside down cone; the Tin bowl.

How to operate:
-You put DMT or another such alkaloid in the flat bottom of the Tin bowl, through the hole in the side of the fitting.
-You Switch On the LaserLight and it shines directly on the flat bottom of the bowl from below. Wait till it evaporises.
-Inhale through pyrex tube.

You now have a really hot laser beam heating up a thin piece of Tin with some DMT on top right above it.
This should vaporise pretty fast. If not then you could increase the Laserbeam strength, if nececairy by hooking it up
to a couple of extra batteries.
It could also be that it is too hot and destroys alkaloids before they evaporise,
in which case you can just decrease the Laserlight's Strength as shown in the Video posted way at the top of this Post.

I will make an explanatory diagram-illustration of this vaporiser to help make it more clear.
This seems like it could be a nice, portable laser-heated vaporiser with easily adjustable vaporisation-temperature.
Will work in rain and wind and only requires a couple of batteries every now and then.
The Laserpen also serves as a handle, holding the vaporiser like a popsicle.

Popping a balloon and lighting a match with the enhanced laser pen only took 2 of these batteries;

Perhaps 4 of these batteries could make the laserbeam hot enough to efficiently evaporise alkaloids in the tin bowl with.

I need to get the laser pen. I have all the other parts. Then I can start building and experimenting with the desired heat-intensity of the laser.
If anyone here buys or has this laser pen, the other nececities are all easy to come by; feel free to start building as well.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I wasn’t able to watch the video (my QuickTime player is out of date) but based on your description, all you’re doing with the laser is adjusting the focus. A typical laser pointer has a power of 5mW. Even when focused, this doesn’t provide much heat.

I have a 75mW green laser, and it can burn things without focusing – including your retina. And that’s problem #1 with using a laser pointer for spice. If a laser is hot enough to vaporize spice, it’s bright enough to cause almost instant and permanent damage to your eyes. Using a high-powered and/or focused laser close to your face and pointed in the general direction of your eyes while coming up on spice is not a good idea.

Also, if you're using the laser under the bowl, what is the advantage over a lighter?

Don't over-power your laser with extra batteries or else it will fry the diode in about 1 microsecond. They are very delicate devices. I think it's a cool idea but not so practical.

There would be no danger of the laserbeam hitting you eyes. The beam would hit the bottom of the tin bowl, heating it up intensely. The laserbeam wouldn't pass through the tin.

The advantage over a lighter is that you can do it outdoors allthough it is too windy for a steady flame.
Also all it takes is replacing a few batteries every now and then, instead of buying new lighters or lighterfuel all the time.
The long laserpen also provides a handy way to hold it. Who knows it may evaporise very evenly and efficiently.

And don't forget the joy of building a very stylish device, using a green laser to vaporise precious molecules.

If you have the urge to experiment, a better method would be to wrap wire around a bulb/container with your spice, and simply run a current through it from batteries. You can experiment and adjust the temperature by adjusting the length of wire: longer wire will produce a lower temperature (of the part around the bowl), because a longer proportion would be out of contact with the bowl. Shorter wire = higher temperature. You can also pretty easily build a circuit to control the heat level--probably just by making a variable voltage supply with decent current capacity.

Better yet, just get a small hot air gun, and focus that on your bowl/receptacle. Here's an easy method to make one from a cheap RadioShack solder remover.

Or you could buy one ready made. Here are a couple. The cheaper one is less than $30.

An all-around bad idea.

There is always a danger of the laser hitting your eyes, especially when you’re pointing it up in the general direction of your face. If your hand shakes a bit, or you drop the smoking device, or … you suddenly have a laser beam shining in your eye.

If you’re shining the beam on metal, much of the light will be reflected. You’d have to coat the metal in a non-reflective, heat absorbing material.

You are overestimating how much heat is produced by a laser. I have a 75mW green laser, and it can very slowly burn a 2mm spot into cork, rubber, plastic, and similar materials. I’m certain it’s not powerful enough to efficiently vaporize a dose of DMT. You’d need a much more powerful green laser (>300mW), or a carbon dioxide laser (whose beam is infrared). Of course, without eye protection you can almost guarantee severe eye damage when using a CO2 laser – the beam is invisible. And with high powered lasers, the reflected beams are just as dangerous as direct beams, so you’d be endangering everyone around you as well.

Also, you would be heating the DMT via conduction, which is the worst possible way to heat it. Light bulb vaporizers, meth pipes, aluminum foil, etc. all heat via conduction. All these methods lead to pyrolysis of DMT. (Good vaporization methods use convection – a stream of hot air – to vaporize. Examples include the Machine, sandwich method in a bong, vaporizer pipes such as the GVG, etc.)

Here's the basic idea shown in a Diagram;

The paint layer on the outside of the tin is burnt and polished off with fire & sandpaper. You roll this into a Cone-shaped bowl, with the rough
burnt & polished side down, on the outside. This side is very matted and unlikely to reflect much light at all.
Also I still don't see how light could shine through the tin or somehow end up in your face, if the laserpen is properly fixed to the bottom of the fitting.
It would shine on the flat bottom of the bowl from below and the light wouldn't go anywhere else.

If you can adjust a laserpen to just the right intensity it may make vaporising alkaloids alot easier and more effective than a flame.
No overheating lighters, no unstable candleflame, no bother by wind AT ALL.

I understand that there are good, effective ways to evaporate alkaloids out there allready. And thanks for pointing them out to me.
But this concept is more an artistic, creative endeavor than it is a way to make a super efficient vaporiser. Pleased

Well, you get an A+ for creativity. I’d like to see it work. If you actually make such a device, please let us know how it works!

Maybe, you should attach a whip to the pyrex tube. That way you could better observe the vapor, and your eyes would be spared a quick death.
