Hey people,

I'm interested in using d-Limonene isntead of naphtha in an A/B extraction. Will it work the same way, or do I have to do something different? My current procedure is cooking my bark with vinegar, basifying with lye, extracting with naphtha 4 times, crashing out crystals in freezer, and if needed 1-3 washes with sodium carbonate.

Could I just replace naphtha with d-Limonene in the described procedure, including the step with crashing out the crystals? If yes, will the yields be as good? If no, how should it be performed?

Thanks in advance!

Lol really Evening? What cave have you been hiding in?! Very happy

Check BLAB tek in the wiki, the difference is you need to salt out the limonene because it doesnt crash when freezing. BLAB is kinda like an STB (with a imo unnecessary acid soak before) but pulling and later steps can be done just the same, so if you want to do an A/B with limo just do the acid step and then continue the BLAB explanations. Good luck!

Thanks mate, it's highly appreciated! I do enjoy my cave, although it obviously also have its negative elements. The terrible stench from the lion's feces, for one!

I see that BLAB calls for the MHRB to be in a jar with vinegar for three whole days. What is the reason for this? My current procedure is to allow it to simmer for an hour or two. Is it really needed three whole days if one doesn't use heat? Then why not just use heat as in Lextek?

Is it powdered bark? I find that first step to be unnecessary if its powdered bark, yields dont seem to be affected at all (though I didnt do a side-by-side, but in different extractions the yield was the same). I think jork's plan initially with the tek was to have something you didnt have to worry about boiling and so on, just put it all in the main container and let it soak for a few days, but with powdered bark you could just go straight to base for same results (or do the A/B before0

Also notice there is no filtering/discarding of the bark material after the acid step, so it resembles more an STB than a typical A/B. Yeah you can definitely do the normal 3x boils of an A/B and then proceed to basify and pull with limo and salt etc...

Nope... FAQ also mentions this. Check BLAB tek, you have to salt out your limo and then convert to freebase Smile
