Swim has used lemon and vinegar mainly to make brew, but likes vinegar better, just not so acidic than lemon.

But the thing here was that swim has found that when mixing caapi or/and chaliponga to the water the PH drops ~5 from ~8. So swim is just thinking that is it nessesary to put any acids there because all the plant material seems to contain some kind of acids? Have anybody else this kind of experiences?

Swim used digital PH device.

BLESS!!

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Take a look at this, it may be of help: Acid vs. Non-Acid Brew Experiment: Comparison of Alkaloids Remaining in THP Brewed Caapi

Awsome.

Swim never tried THP before, but that will be next experiement. Dose that THP really work with chaliponga? Swim wonders how much chaliponga you have to do at once?

Has anybody idea how long reduced THP chaliponga extraction would stay good in fridge? And do people recomend pasturizing for storing?

Has somebody tried to use same water over and over again in THP tec? Insted of using 15l water you could use 5l x3?

The shaman's don't use vinegar and their brews work.

Shamabalaa - due to the caxiness of chali, I'm pretty sure it has to be boiled. 3 x 30 minute boils should be adequate to extract the majority of the alkaloids from it. You can store it for months if not years in the fridge, no need for pasteurizing afaik, if it ferments, you can separate the liquid from the foam and drink it with out issue, iirc, but in the fridge that should take a long time. As far as using same water in THP, I reuse the water, so 15L ends up being 30+L by the time everything is used, but fresh water has greater ability to hold alkaloids and therefore is more efficient at extracting...so proceed however you see fit.

Sure, but how acidic is the Amazon water and how much alkaloidal content are they leaving behind?

What is caxiness?

Swim tried to read about PH levels of amazon water and it depends on river but it seems to be around PH 4-7. That would be nice thing to test in amazon. Swim is heading amazon in a year, so that might be one thing to do there. Swim thinks that when you have fresh source of caapi and light you dont have to care about any alkaloid content leaved behind. So dosages might be bigger in amazon too?

Yes. Swim thinks that no reason to use 30+ liters clean water, instead reuse those, more eniviromental friendly too. Swim had to buy water because here they use chloramine and fluoride in tap water. And chloramine wont vaporize with boiling so it just gets more concentrated.

caxiness is a typo for waxiness Embarrased

As to water, I only use 200ml of water per gram of material. If I were to brew 75g of caapi, I would use 15L, but I would pour each liter through the material at least twice, resulting in 30L+ of water being run through it, although only 15L would be "clean" water. Hope that clrifies.

Snazzleberry: Have you find that THP makes stronger caapi than regular boiling? People seems to say so, but if you have any opinions to add? Swim was hard time to understand that test resul with acid and non-acid test, it looked that non-acid make more, but then in the end it was other way round?? Smile

What you saw more of was alkaloids that were left in the bark that had already been brewed. There were more alkaloids remaining in non-THP brewed bark than in THP-brewed bark after the bark had been brewed, which ultimately means that THP is more effective than traditional boils as it leaves less alkaloids in the initial material after the brewing process has been completed.

Alright! Thanks buddy! That makes way more sense.

Today swim made THP and it takes 2.5L of water and swim thinks that should be good volume? And swim wont use acid, unless somebody has better ideas? Swim thinks that making more pulls might be necessary if there is no acid.

Cheerse!! Thanks to answer my silly questions Smile
