As some of you know I have the pleasure of living in Scandinavia. Our countries are all covered by dark pine forests and we have very long and cold winters, and of course, this influences us a great deal, which in turn is shown through our music. You might have heard that Norway is big at the black metal scene, for one. This doesn't necessarily mean that we are darker or more evil than other people, maybe actually to the contrary. I dare to say that no one appreciates the summer as much as we do. You know, there's no light without darkness...

We in the psychedelic families enjoy these forests our own way. Bring over-dimensioned speakers playing forest/dark psy, combine with love in heaps, and voilá, you have the recipe for healthy madness. The spring is here now, so it's party time! Therefore I wanted to show you guys the sound and the vibe of the Scandinavian forest psy.

I'm starting with a video from a party last year in Sweden that I think catches the vibe pretty good.

Yeah, that's Amanita muscaria. Which grows everywhere... Parties are held all the time, but Ican't say when and where on public forums, but some details to some of them is added to Goabase (Norwegian parties is sometimes listed under Sweden). Oh yes, about everyone is welcome to Norway - if you can handle the winter, that is.

do you have any favorite festivals over there, or are they more small/underground parties?

Sweet, reminds me of the bush "doof" culture they have in Australia/New Zealand, a sort of underground nomadic culture that's also frequented by "chameleon" people with normal jobs during the week but who enjoy a good real party with good real people. Iceland and Scandinavia in some ways seem very similar to Aus/New Zealand to me, in how "fresh" the culture seems. The larger festivals here in North America seem to lack that purity and feeling of total trust and safety that I find in those smaller, psychedelic family shindigs. Enjoy and thanks for sharing...

Derango is a blast!

I was at love forest 6 last weekend and it was just pure bliss!!

The weather was preety meh but it didnt matter at all.

Ive been to boom, full moon festival and vuuv before but nothing beats the local forest festivals. quality over quantity every day of the week

I'll second that! I was on Ozora but I would also like to see the Boom and the Burning Man. Other then that, only smaller festivals have this atmosphere that is desirable. It's ironical that on larger festivals you get to know less people and the vibe is also well... more massive and commercial.

Only downside in my country is that police is really hard on raves and will harass as much as they can =(

Sucks tripping in the woods worrying about getting busted.

From what I've heard police in Poland is a bit afraid of our parties They probably think that we are insane so it's better to leave as alone.

Once I was on a festival when the police has arrived. Around eight police officers standing in a line with disorientated faces. They were very calm, looked around with unsettling interests about what's happening. When the police arrived people left the dancefloor leaving a huge bong in the middle of it. I thought that it would be enough for busts. I wasn't scared because I was clean without anything both with me or inside me. Near our party site there was a mine and it's security called the police claiming that people trespass its borders. When this was resolved by promising to stop lurking into the mine, police left.

On a Polish psytrance forum I've read that once two girls were walking down the road. It was during night, when the heavy sounds were played. Police drove to them and started to ask questions:
- What are you doing here?
- We are on the party.
The looked astonished and said: "At night? In the forest? That kind of music? We are out of here."

Ive vitnessed similirar stuff myself, once when alien mental played at a forest party in sweden a few cops showed up watched people dance like zombies and then gtfo really quick lol

The police probably show up because someone call them. If one are oranizing a party somewere one should check if it's okay for the people that live in the area and might be disturbed.

Nah usually they have the parties way out in the forests and in most cases have permission from the landowners.

The reason cops show up is that when houndreds of cars just drive by a area that is normally preety dead people call the cops and say something is going on.
