Hi!
Most of topics that are of interest to me are already covered, like techniques, etc. Just a single use of "Search" button gives you almost all necessary information that you can get. It makes getting promoted more difficult. I like it because I had some problems with users of open forums before. Sometimes it was hard to have a serious discussion without trolling so I understand and endorse those rules. But I would like a little bit advice if I can post questions about topics that are already covered just to present my person to the moderators.
Thanks for your help!

Why not just write an intro essay? Imo that seems simpler, more to the point and doesn't generate needless redundancy.

Sadhaka,

As I understand it recent promotions have mostly been on hold, given the recent DDOS attacks that the Nexus has been hit with. I think that promotions will pick up again soon.

In the meantime, yes, it's good to post on anything and everything within the general areas covered on the Nexus. Best of all are threads about your experiences and how those experiences affected you and what they meant to you.

Thank you very much, I don't want to sound pushy, I just wondered about it.

As to experiences... I'm waiting for my Changa. Soon my brothers and sisters, very soon... Smile

I've been wondering this too.
The first thing I did was write an introduction essay and that was about a month ago. Since then I've just kind of lurked the forums and posted when possible. I've noticed that I'm not alone here, there's actually quite a large number of new members in the same situation.
Quote:
Give up already. Some people say you should never give up but don't be foolish. Knowing when to give up is important for both survival and is vital to being able to learn effectively. Giving up on some tasks gives you more time and energy to focus on other more important tasks. This may confuse or annoy you, some people have more ambition and determination than sense, but I'll give you some examples to illustrate my point:

You should give up on being like everyone else so you can be true to yourself. Give up on an easy mundane life so that you can live life sincerely. Give up on feeling safe and secure so you can live your dreams. Give up on being perfect so you can be your best. Life is all about trade-offs. There is no right or wrong way to live your life but that doesn't mean you can act however you want and still achieve anything you want. To add something you must remove something else. To achieve something you must give up on something else.

Welcome to the Nexus! Based on the thousands of posts and topic/threads/wikis/ everything else, I think they know what their priorities and what they're doing , so in their own time things will pick up. Until then, keep lurking. Cool
Let the plants guide you, for they teach lessons beyond what we humans can offer.
Distorted is our perception of reality, because reality is much more distorted than we could ever perceive it to be.

All posts made by this username do not actually exist. They are hallucinations caused by the reception of light photons by the retinae of homo sapien sapien. You are already inside the rabbit hole.

Follow the path you have chosen, travelers, you will not regret the outcome, that I can assure you.

The approach I would take as a new member (and in fact this is the approach I took, though I joined before the "new member" promotion system became a necessary evil) is simply to ask questions... not aloud (in posts), but to myself... and try to find the answers. If the answers are unclear, or cannot be readily found in one place with a simple search, then you have stumbled on a gap that's waiting to be filled. All that remains is to collect all of the pertinent information, scattered across the internet and in reference books though it may be, and compile it into a clear, approachable form. Alternatively, if the information is simply nowhere to be found, starting a discussion for people to contribute their knowledge and information on the topic may be in order.

Questions are an inevitable part of the learning process. But rather than posting questions to which the answers are already available (albeit with a little legwork), I find it's more constructive to answer one's own questions (and adapt the direction of the question based on the input of others and the information you find while researching), and thereby provide a reference to which others with similar questions may turn in the future. The posts that I link to in my signature are all good examples of this method.

Sadhaka, Spacefirafe, JackCastle - they all say they have not been promoted yet but they don't have any pot there as far as I can see Smile

Erm... everything changes all the time Pleased

I think that others need to get to know you before you get promoted. It's like looking for soul-mates. It's a good thing but don't expect that everyone will fit here. It's not a personal thing but if full membership will be easy to get then well... DMT-Nexus will become just another drug site with lots of bad vibes and talks about RCs overtaking the board. The main reason I've started to post here is what had happened to the Shroomery, once a great board but not anymore.

great man! it seems like the more post u do (without spaming)
seem to get u promoted, or at least noticed for a promotion

Noticed yes, but promoted - only if the quality of the posts is high and demonstrates a good fit and a respect for the way things are done here. People should concentrate on quality and not quantity. I am not a mod, but i know that people who post often to pump their posts up are not generally regarded as good candidates.

I will use myself as an example - I posted 60 posts over, I believe, three months before I was promoted. I am still here contributing. Be patient. Enjoy the forum. There is no rush. And remember: a watched pot never get smoked. Very happy

JBArk
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.
