I'm using q21q21 tek 2, following to the t, mostly. i was going to wait until tonight when the kids are asleep, but the girls are gone and my boy took a very rare afternoon nap so i started today. I'm extracting 100g MHRB. I have to containers in the freezer. container 1: 30 minutes in i can see crystals formingVery happy Container 2: 10 minutes in, not as cloudy as container 1 was at roughly the same time, but is cloudy so hopefully I'll get good crystalization. I have my 3rd pull(naptha) soaking in my bark goo for the next 8-10 hours, then i will do pulls 3 and 4 tonight and post reports tonight or tommorrow.

my first pull so yeilded .162 g, but there are still a lot of crystals stuck inside my jar that i cant scrape up. First lesson learned: use baking tray not jars. Any technique advise on how to get those stuck crystals out?

Up to .240 g on my first pull. 2nd and 3rd pull almost ready to scrape.

I have never used a baking tray to precipate my crystals, I always use the "French" kilner jars with the rubber seal and metal clip which I like because they give a good seal and come in loads of different sizes. I use ~500mL ones for collection and really small ones for re-x. Anyway…

To collect my crystals from jars I generally use the thinnest/sharpest teaspoon (by this I mean the point on the end and the vertical thickness) I can find, they are great for getting around curved corners and in nooks and crannies, as well as collecting all the crystals in the well in the middle.

I don’t tend to use a blade for scrapping until I’ve ve got up everything I can with a teaspoon.

Hey OP I have the same problem as you with getting it out of the jars. Is yours really waxy and despite how much scraping you do there is still a ton of dmt in the jar? What I did was after I scraped up as much as I could I poured in a little bit of naptha and then evaporated it on a flat plate, then scrapped it up with a razor. You should be able to collect close to 99% from the jar that way. But Im just wondering, is freebase supposed to be that waxy?
My eyes are soon to be open! Cant wait!

I did the same thing with naptha in my jars and i found that even though it looked like a ton of crystals it was only about .025g per jar. I only had waxy residue in my jars, when i switched to a glass baking tray, i had the white fluffy stuff with no wax residue, much easier to scrape too.

My total off roughly 100g MHRB came to 1.14g Which i am happy with getting 1% off my first extraction.

A word of advice. For efficiency's sake, combine each pull in to one single dish/jar with a lid then evaporate a portion off then freeze precipitate.
This results in a super saturated solvent, thus making the DMT precipitate out much easier, in one go and efficiently.

I agree with putting all pulls into one jar, and nice yield for first extraction BTW.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be,

ok. So just to make sure i understand. Each pull i use new solvent? Dump all pulls into 1 container, then freeze?

ADVICE: Use round bottom bowls with lids. Vertical edges and corners make the spice stick, and make it hard to reach into the jar,,,,,

Bowls With lids! is the way to go. the lid must be tight so water from the freezer dont get in. Walmart sells round pyrex bowls with tight sealing lids.....

FYI: i have never had luck with evaporating, even if to reduce volume. naptha takes soooooooo long to evap. what about all that dust that gathers in the naptha, over those 2-5 days of evaping? and who wants naptha gas floating around in the air?

ALso: using new naptha on each pull guarantees the most spice gets sucked up. but i use each naptha batch 2-3 times before it turns yellow then i toss it. of course, i do one extra extract once all the spice is gathered, and this is done with the cleanest of naptha.
This post is fictional.

These are great freeze precip containers made by pyrex. They seal well and have nice smooth surfaces for scraping.

I have invested in some pyrex containers with lids. Did a second 100g extract an yielded 1.81g of the goods. Changa'd my first batch and have been rewarded, looking foward to my second batch.

Thank you all for your advice and guidance, it is much appreciated

Peace

Very nice pyrex products Mister_Niles, thanks for the link. Will have to invest more in some of their glass products for the future. Very happy

I use the same tek but I tend to use 9" glass baking trays for freeze precipitation. I have one of those pyrex dishes with a lid, but my only frustration with that is that I can't stand how much spice gets stuck to the sides and is hard to scrape off entirely. Whenever I run off my solvent and let it dry, there's a good portion of the spice that scrapes off with no problem. But sometimes there is a white film of spice across the entire container that needs to be handled with a razor blade (it's still quality spice in the end), and getting that off the sides of a round dish like that is impossible.

I mean I have literally scraped up .5g from just what looks like white, filmy residue, so there's always more there than there appears to be.

How long do you guys let some of the solvent evap before freezing it? The stuff just seems to take SO LONG to evaporate.

I haven't had any problems with spice getting stuck to the side of my pyrex dish. It's a pretty big dish though. I dont evaporate anything before i freeze. I just stick my dish in the freezer as soon as i fill it up.
You're right about the film being quality spice! I've read posts about the extra colored stuff or the wax film is not being good.....i disagreeSmile
