I was shown this gif by a friend at college, and I thought it was crazy. Does anyone know why this crab would do such a thing? I was thinking maybe it was broken, or injured. I also thought it might possibly grow back, but I really don't know. Or maybe it's just a one off event, and the crab is crazy; or overly-aggresive. Either way, I thought I'd share this with you guys. Peace Macre All things stated within this website by myself are expressly intended for entertainment purposes only.

Wow! Hilarious, intriguing, and invoking a sense of empathy as well as apathy at the same time?

Think of amputating a limb because of gangrene. Plants also necrose organs of them that are infected. Need to calculate between salts and freebases? Click here! You just have to look at someone like Aron Ralston. Although his circumstance was rare and extreme, he did what may seem unthinkable; but at the moment he did what he did, it was the easiest option available. I'm pretty sure it will grow back a completely functional new pincher or claw. On the East Coast there is a whole industry where they catch these crabs with blue claws, pull of the claw and throw the crab back so that it will grow another one. They are supposed to taste delicious and it seems to be a sustainable fishing operation as the crabs are not killed to be eaten, just roughed up a bit. Amazing animals. Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, and all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous. — Terence McKenna

SWIM (a fictional character based on other people) either obtained a license for said activity, did said activity where it is legal to do so, or as in most cases the activity is completely fictional.

It's true that the best meat is in the claw. I can see how it's sustainable. Nature is an amazing thing that keeps throwing surprises. Definitely amazing animals. to take an educated guess id say the crab is doing what a salamander does when they detach their tales to evade being captured and eaten. the wiggling claw is an easier meal for the predator and the crab grows a new one. its a win win for seafood lovers. Crabs can grow their claws back. I used to find crabs with one large claw and one tiny one when crabbing.

That might have been a fiddler crab, they have one small one and one big one. Step forward into your cave. That's right. You're going deeper into your cave. And you're going to find, your power animal...
Imagine your pain as a white ball of healing light. It moves over your body, healing you. Now keep this going, remember to breathe, and step forward through the backdoor of the room. Where does it lead?

Maybe, but we saw it with spider crabs, and the normal kind, and the baby ones. I'm pretty sure most crabs can grow back limbs. Starfish do it too.

The crab was probably just showing off for the cameras Peace Macre All things stated within this website by myself are expressly intended for entertainment purposes only.
