There are huge protests on the streets all over spain for days already, against the fucked up social/economic system! Sunday is election day, and supposedly no demonstrations are allowed these days before but people dont care. Everybody had enough of the rich bankers and corrupt politicians, and are camping on the main squares of large towns all over the country.

I dont know what long term significance of this is but I was there and will be there for as long as this goes on, I think people might just be waking up.. Enough people? Who knows, but we're trying Very happy There are some sort of commitees and communal discussions to propose social changes, its pretty interesting, I hope this matures well.

Im amazed that this isnt all over international news.....

What do you guys think ?

Amazng and motivating! Crazy tho, seems like there's a media blackout on this, which does not surprise me at all...We are at the turn of an age, and it's simply breathtaking to be AWARE of our evolution, this is something special. We need educators, we need doctors, we need free spirits to engage frequencies of light, this cross-over will never happen unless we come together as our peeps are doing in Spain, among other international countries! Right on, endlessness, the dmt was fun and informative...now comes the REAL work and transformation, only something that can occur THROUGH the body, not away from it...

Demonstrations and protests in regard to economic crisis are not uncommon in southern European countries. International news mostly blow something up when the protests escalate to riots, as was the case in Greece many a time. It's important to know the intent of the rallies and if there is a teleological aim. What are the interests of the groups of people protesting? It definitely varies between all the Mediterranean countries, but what is the case in Spain? Anyone can protest, but to support a protest blindly without knowing all the technicalities is imprudent.

They are made for life, not for thought. Yes, and he who thinks, what's more, he who makes thought his business, he may go far in it, but he has bartered the solid earth for the water all the same, and one day he will drown."

If there's a country with enough energy to fight the good fight, it is Spain.

wow, it's so big!
It would be nice to see some real change come from this.

I wish it would spill over to the rest of europe.
Also I hope it all stays non-violent!

Did you look at the pics and read more about it or are you talking generally? I know a lot of protests lead to nothing because they are organized by some political groups with hidden purposes, or "anarchists" that start violence and riots. This is nothing like it! There are no groups leading this, it is a totally anonymous citizen movement, sparked through the internet, completely peaceful (at least so far), and not only peaceful but pretty incredible how its going till now: Very positive,, even every morning the people are waking up, getting brooms and garbage cans and cleaning stuff up!

Can you imagine that, a protest where people clean the streets after themselves?? There are loads of people bringing food and sharing with each other, people are making the town squares as a big art/intervention/activism place, with spontaneous organized "comissions" that deal with specific discussions and actions of the whole movement. They are even inviting the police to join in protests as changing the system concerns us all (I hear in canary islands they did, but it might just be a rumor because someone said so at the protests, I didnt see it on the news. But in Barcelona the firemen did join us Smile ).

Really do check the pictures in the gallery linked above, there are some really expressive pictures. All the politicians seem to be trembling on their knees. The supreme justice court declared the protests illegal and people didnt give a shit, the prime minister and the "internal affairs" head said that they will not follow the recommendation and will not put police to dissolve the protests, its just too massive

By the way again, Im not saying that this is it, and that from today on the people will peacefully overtake the government and change the system, but I tell you I've been to protests in my life, here in spain and elsewhere, and im usually very skeptical of it too, there is usually a lot of destruction and little construction. This is completely unlike anything i've seen. Even if this ends tomorrow, it is an amazing sign already of possible changes. Like some old man said at one point in the protest: "You guys show that there is still a future"

Truly exciting and inspiring - must be great to be there, and the pictures are phenomenal. There seems to be quite a wide age-range of people there, which is probably significant. The first news of this is just starting to filter through to the UK (after 6 days!).

Endlessness...I don't read Spanish, so I couldn't get all the banners & slogans, but what are the specific things that people want to happen next as a result of all of this?

I've been keeping up with this, and like you I'm some what surprised that this hasn't been a bigger deal to the world than it has...

Here's some of what the banners say:

"You ask us for austerity from inside your Mercedes!"

"In this country you can camp on the streets for Justin Bieber or to see Twilight, but not to defend your rights... We are not leaving!"

"No more life-benefits for retired politicians"

"No more luxury official cars"

"We are not anti-system, the system is anti-us"

"No more crap mortgage"

"May our conversations drown the sirens"

"It's not a crisis, it's a robbery"

"We are not 'goods' in the hands of bankers and politicians"

"It's not lack of money, it's excess of thieves"

"You don't represent us"

"The fight is in the streets, not in the voting urns"

"We, the people, declare the electoral court illegal!" (answer to the electoral court declaring the protests illegal)

"Let's be humans again"

"This is the strenght of no-violence"

Some of the demands:

-Politicians have to declare their salary
-No large donations from private companies to political parties
-Politicians accused of crimes cannot be elected
-Referendum about important decisions
-Change in laws regarding mortgage (right now if you cant pay, the bank stays with your money and your house)
-Blank/null votes should be counted (instead of just increase count for major parties
-Change in voting law which doesnt give representativity to small political parties
-Criminal charges to bankers who caused the crisis

etc..

So amongst these commitees that spontaneously arose, there is one called "respect commission", and they take care that everything goes smoothly and respectfully. The public cleaning services said the streets are three times cleaner than any normal party day. Smile

This is so good what is happening in Spain. I feel like going there to join you guys. I hope this is the start of a big change that I was hoping to happen. Soon it will be everywhere. Thank you for fighting for all of us. You cannot lose if you don’t give up. Love to you all. Oh I’m so happy about this.

Spain is hit extremely hard by the crisis. And politicians are extremely afraid these days, to take the responsability that comes with the job of governing a country.

To be honest, i don't think a system restart is likely. I'm very pessimistic about western civilisation and europe in peticular.

Europe is standing on the edge of a cliff and getting society in a healthy state again is gonna take immense efforts, most europeans are not willing to make and most politicians are afraid to impose.

Many politicians are only asking the question: how to get the budget balanced again? Not the question: how can we get the economy running normally in a sustainable manner?

Im not sure whats the whole solution, I dont think anybody is, but it certainly must start by people starting to feel empowered and an integral part of society, and wishing for things to change, and then slowly organizing themselves without limiting themselves by the bureaucracies of standard institutions, and collectively trying to come up with solutions. Im not a blind idealist, I dont think the event by itself is the answer to everything: just like with psychedelic experiences, the integration is essential. But im so happy this is happening, the very existence of this is already changing things one way or another.

I was just there now again and it was really really nice, totally peaceful, people happy and smiling, the place is very clean etc. And I swear I was nearly crying when I saw people have taken over the non-productive grassy areas of the main city square and are turning it into a vegetable/herb/fruit garden. People with their garden tools, children, the youth and older people, collectively planting fruit trees, vegetables and herbs in the main square of the city. Is this beautiful or what ? Smile

Nice to see that the people of Spain are demonstrating against the governement.
I like the slogan: 'you don't represent us!' Smile That is a BIG point: why is it that (almost) all politicians are of the stiff, conservative and bourgeois kind? I don't see a real representation of the population. I have the feeling that mostly you have this or this politician, fighting for the poor or the marginal groups of society. But as soon as this person is a part of the governement he gets dilusional from the power! Even when a promising person enters the political scene, there's basicaly nothing he can do cause the opposition makes his life hard.
I realy hope the people of Spain won't give their vote to one of the extreme right parties, like in Finland, Hungary, Italy or France.
BTW endlessness, i thought you were a Brazilian? what are you doing in Spain?
