Several times this week I have had the urge to write this post. Recently, as of the last half-year, two things have happened: 1) A future of my younger dreams has started manifesting itself 2) I have started successfully growing mushrooms. Because mushroom fruiting has not evolved to a discreet process in my space, any old policeman or DEA officer who wandered in could discover what was going on. And, thanks to things like internet records, one could wander in. And if one did, it could ruin my life, and my newly-uncovered future life, in the nigh-fullest sense of the word.
It unnerves me constantly to think that if something went wrong, my future would be toast. This evolves to such a strong feeling that at times I want to immediately destroy my pins, my substrates... burn the little MHRB still cached... clean everything away. But by then this fear has ebbed away, and I find myself lusting after the idea of a newly-inoculated bucket of horse-manure. Only to dissolve.

I suppose what I am wondering, is whether I have reason to trust the logical comforts my brain offers. Or should I break away from it all, only to read, dream, and talk about the subject? Is it true that almost no-one gets busted for mushrooms? Especially when one isn't selling, and tells only trusted friends? That the DEA doesn't spend resources on hapless students like me, unless other people get involved first?
Do you know anyone who has been busted for drug production (I know there are a few) or if you have yourself? How did they get busted?
What has helped you avoid arrest in the past?

These are all questions I would love an answer to, it would help me a lot, and perhaps a few warnings would help others.

Biggest thing in New Zealand I have noticed is really watch who you tell, People here commonly get caught through there own stupidity then to save themselves inform the police of what someone else is doing. There seems to be a thing here with the police were they will trade no charges for information, and sadly a lot of people take that offer. I be more than safe with everything as I know full to well what happens if you don't.

A healthy dose of paranoia is good for psychonauts. Always act as if you are under surveillance, in this day and age in America you very well might be. Do not talk about illegal/illicit drugs over the phone or while texting or IMing with your mobile phone/device. Do not let your friends know that you are producing anything. Just that you have them and are willing to share with friends and will not talk about where they came from. Mostly law enforcement is interested in dealers, especially bulk dealers or those who know bulk dealers, not individual users.

Funny this should come up so timely. Swim had a bout of paranoia a few weeks ago and he destroyed everything he had...but I think he might build things back up again at some point soon.
It is healthy and smart to be careful, and the thing is...these days we really don't know how invasive surveillance might be....are they checking your email, your surfing, your credit card purchases? Would they? It is a police state after all!

Yea this deff happens a lot usually busting the bigger dealer and letting him off if he snitches on another.

Honestly, I'd be very surprised if any of you were busted...there are so many other SERIOUS drug offences going on at all times (coke,crack,meth,heroin)...I think they cops go after the online botanical suppliers more often than dinky mushroom kits in a bedroom....True story, I used to grow mushies back when I was 18...I had an awesome room set up, tubs, pvc pipes, humdifier, 50 rice cakes, used spore syringes, tho whole shebang...I got into a fight with my girl at the time, and the cops showed up...they searched my place, found the lab, told me some chemical workers would come clean it up and take the supplies the next day...the chemical workers never showed...I of course dumped it all out right after the cops left, and after no one ever showed up, I realized that might have been the cops' plan the whole time...convince this dumb kid to get paranoid and dump all his expensive shit....as I did. Either way, be careful, but don't give in to obsessive paranoid thoughts...if you're just sittin around with no reason to worry, and the thought comes up "oh shit, dump it, cops are listening/watching/etc.", IGNORE IT...its the ego trying to escape inevitable psychadelia death...lol

I don't think people need to be overly paranoid just careful, but thinking you won't get caught leads to sloppy habits increasing the chances of getting caught.

i think for one the less people who know what your doing the better.

I operate above board on all fronts. Plan for the worst case but don't feed it energy. careful attention to detail every step of the way.

Don't think about it too much. growing mushrooms is a noble worthwhile cause .

Both these thoughts have definitely come to me. I suppose my question should be "Do I have reason to worry?" and the answer is, of course, "No!". But that doesn't make the ill feeling any better. I've done a LOT of stuff in the past in a much more public fashion, and to tell the truth I've NEVER had the cops come for any reason. It shouldn't be a problem. But reassurance definitely needed!

"Don't sell & don't tell" goes a long way.

Personally, SWIM would be a LOT less paranoid with growing mushrooms than with growing pot or any other illegal substance. To SWIM they are just so EASY to grow; no expensive setup's, no hazardous precursor or solvents, heck and you don't even need shit to grow em! ( literally... haven't used shit yet to grow em... don't need to )

AFOAF stupidly decided a couple years back to create a gorilla grow in a wooded area after scouting it out for months. Luckily SWIM was growing Lowryder cause SWIM later realized that it was about 200 meters away from a busy public hiking trail Now THAT was a paranoid operation....

And overall yes, like many Nexians have said, don't kiss and tell
