Because of the DDOS attack that has plagued the Nexus for the past few days new server equipment is needed to fend off this type of attack. This type of equipment is not cheap and the Traveler has put a lot of time and his own personal resources to keep the Nexus up and running as it is. I ask that everyone that can, please donate.

Thank you for this post acolon_5! Because more and more people are telling me that they like to donate and the fact that we do need an investment if we want to get the DMT-Nexus running again I am setting aside my ever ongoing "no donations" remark with some mixed feelings. At this moment I'm looking at the options to get professional anti-DDoS equipment together with a huge bandwidth to withstand any future DDoS attack. This does not come cheap and it present even a monthly extra cost for the extra bandwidth and rack space. If the price of the anti-DDoS equipment will be too high to make this plan work or if the DDoS will go away by itself I will refund all the money immediately. For my normal life I don't need any extra money, please understand that I've always been proud that I could bring the DMT-Nexus to people around the world without any donation. I bit the bullet and donated so found answer to that question, Hope I can donate a bit more soon glad to help keep this great place going and hope others give back a little when we have all got so much from this site. Thanks to the traveler and all the mods for the excellent work hope you guys can keep it up. Black then white are all I see in my infancy.

I know I'll be making a donation, and must admit all the knowledge on this site is worth a lot more than my 10 or 20 bucks.

Do we really -need- to upgrade it? This DDoS-attack wasn't a one timer? If all the data is safe it's okay. What is learned cannot be unlearned.

The attack was at least twice, and Trav is working on getting a permanent protection, which will cost money, as this is only temporary now. He said he will give back the money if there is another cheap solution or its not needed anymore. I understand that each one has their money situation and it might be hard to donate. Personally I feel that the Nexus must be worth at least a couple of my bucks even though Im struggling to stretch my small earnings till the end of each month

The Traveler, If you don't mind me asking, do you know how much this upgraded protection will cost you in total? Do not listen to anything, "Steely" says. The hosting costs will rise significantly per month but that also means we have about 20 times as much upload/download speed as before.
