Hi friends... It's been over 3 weeks since I touch spice because the last time I smoked it really scared the living jesus out of me. Dose was 40 mg smoked. Then I got the usual vibrations, the buzzing, them the blast. I could feel my heart racing and I was enjoying the trip, the visuals... Them sudely I felt a sucking feeling on my chest, then I couldn't hear or feel my heart for a couple seconds!!!.. I stand un and start jumping, moving, doing something and there it was.. My heart was working again. I just keep moving until I was back to baseline. I really thought I was having a heart attack, the anxiety was so much that I when to the doctor and told him what happen (minus the spice part) I said that I was working out and feel like my heart stop. He run a EKG and to my relief I wasn't having a heart attack, nor I had any signs of past damage. They run some blood test and the only abnormality was a High level of hemoglobin on the liver. But now sadly the anxiety won't let me rest... It's like an impending feeling of doom, and I don't know how to get rid of it. I used to be a heavy drinker, and Spice help me a lot, I stop drinking or doing any other drug since I first took it, and my life's been a lot healthier for over 6 months. Know I do not know what to think.... I love spice but it seems that it doesn't love me back anymore, and I feel that the next time I take it could be my last. sometimes like right before i blast off i will get a slight panic because i think i'm not breathing and i feel that my heart has stopped, i read somewhere (and i cant remember where or i would post a link) that it isn't too uncommon an occurrence and on the page i was reading this on they explained it as your inner clock being slowed down so much that the time in between heart beats could seem like eternities

DMT is very powerful stuff, as I'm sure you know. There seems to be a pretty good consensus based on the reports of others on this site that pre-launch anxiety, and the immediate effects of vaporized spice can tend to make you feel as though your breathing or heart has stopped. Like iamtwentytwelve pointed out, this is probably just a perceptual side effect. You are no longer aware of your heart rate, which can lead to panic if you focus on it. While I am not a medical expert, I am fairly certain that had your heart actually stopped, its unlikely you would have been able to jump up or move around. However, I do think that standing up and jumping around during a trip is unsafe itself! You might want to review the Health and Safety section of the Wiki which has great info on these issues. Here's a few helpful excerpts: Quote:The overwhelmingly extreme nature of the experience, as well as the almost instantaneous onset (wherein the user is launched into the peak experience within a minute or less) lends itself to the possibilities of panic and existential terror. Quote:There is yet little research into vaporized DMT, but there seems to be no sign that it is in any way more dangerous physically than other administration forms. There are no reported deaths from smoking DMT. Smoking it will not lead to a dangerous overdose because the onset is so quick that one can only inhale a certain (pharmacologicaly safe)amount before being gone to ´hyperspace', without being able to smoke more until one is down again.
However:
- Somatic effects such as possibility of increased heart-rate means people with dangerous heart or other life-threatening conditions are contra-indicated, and should NOT use DMT unless they have consulted a qualified health professional about it. I'd say if you are otherwise healthy, it was more than likely panic-related, in which case maybe starting with smaller doses and getting more familiar with the physiological effects might help. Good luck! -

Time-dialation and physical hallunciations. I used to think I had stopped breathing, others watching me said I never did. I have a friend that used to think he was urinating every time he smoked....no such thing ever happened. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. Now that I think about it like Acolon said it was just an extreme effect of time dilatation. And like the doctor said my heart never stop, my EKG shows a perfectly normal and healthy heart. So, It was just in my head. I think Spice is the most powerful anti-drug there is... It even works agains itself. But... I'm not done with spice, just like "walkthelongwalk" said, I'm going to take a couple more weeks off while I recrystalize my spice a couple more times. Then I'm going to star with low doses. Peace & Love Al Dimentiz "The Medicine Will Always Be There For Those Who Seek It"

To mis-quote a horrid anti-drug campaign, "Spice is my anti-drug". It has actually helped me quit some other, harmful and life limiting drugs I at one point used. And yes, even spice can and will spice-block itself. If it's any help - I used to get panic attacks for a while after too long smoking hydro mari-j (waaay too soporific that stuff, what the hell happened there?) and used a combo of hawthorn, passiflora and motherwort tinctures to get back on track, really helped. The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer. ~Edward R. Murrow
