There is scarcely any information on the effects of smoking DMT Fumarate from either chemical data or various anecdotes. It is naive to think that no one will attempt to smoke the fumarate salts when this fine website broadcasts the instructions on how to make them. True it is simple to simply form the freebase, but nonetheless all that can happen often will.

Even the boiling point of the freebase is not completely clear. Shuglin simply says its wrong in the literature accepted even today. The minimal discussion on this site suggests numerous values ranging over 200 C difference will no resolution. (I'd bet on the anecdotes around 160-200 C.)

But the bottom line is, fumaric acid has been suggested on this site for storage and crystallization without any thorough care of the responsibilities of presenting this information and I am bringing this to attention to try to advance the knowledge on the subject.

Here's what information I have gathered. Fumaric acid and maleic acid has the chemical formula HO2CCH=CHCO2H where fumaric is trans around the double bond while maleic is the cis isomer. Maleic acid is only slightly (22.7 kJ·molโˆ’1) less stable than fumaric acid. Due to dramatic differences in polarity maleic acid has a much lower melting point than fumaric acid and likewise the flash point is much lower (127 °C, 230 °C respectively). When heated in a bomb calorimeter, fumaric acid will not combust but instead become maleic anhydride. This raises concern because maleic anhydride is much more irritating and toxic than fumaric acid can be. Doesn't this mean that when fumaric acid becomes maleic acid that it will rapidly decompose and what is actually the worst case senario of inhaling combusted fumaric acid/maleic acid?

None of this information accounts for fumarate being in a salt, but dmt fumarate is known to have a higher melting point. Therefore it must also have a higher boiling point. I've also read on less reliable forums that when heated, the fumarate ions release the dmt freebase which vaporizes. Suppose that temperature was around 300 C; would the fumarate ion become maleic anhydride and/or decompose altogether and would it happen before or after the actual dmt vaporization?

A well written post - attempting to smoke a fumarate salt is something worth trying.

I can see that one of the options to try would be while under the influence of ayahuasca/pharma or any of the analogues. That way a much smaller amount is needed for the effects to be felt Smile

I'm not sure but I think smoking DMT fumarate wouldn't give all the powerful of the DMT... If you want to store it or eat it, DMT fumarate is very good but for smoking I think you should have DMT freebase...
I'm sorry for my English guys, I know he isn't good at all but SWIM and me are French, that's a good excuse no?Razz

Most of this is discussed in this thread, but thank you for putting this much thought into the issue.

Be well.
