So SWIM has recently been re-acquainted with this plant in the form of an extract that had been stored away for at least a year. SWIM did a test run the other night and had a very nice effect with a size of a pinky tail worth of extract (abnormally small amount for effects received... looking into possible potentiation effect from herbal tea SWIM was drinking prior). This was taken sublingually.

Along with re-acquaintance though came the question that bugged SWIM a while back too, which was does Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa) contain the tropane hyoscyamine?? SWIM has done some research around the internet but still nothing very conclusive. SWIM has found some articles that pointed back to the early 1900's that stated the plant contain hyoscyamine but in more recent reports some have stated that no amount of hyoscyamine was detected....

Any ideas?
Thanks,

ElusiveMind

id like to know more too. theres a 10 y/o sister of a friend of mine who searches for it in the forest while playing to eat because she randomly ate it and got an effect one day when she was about 5 or 6. kind of cute/dangerous lol. it is whatever variant of opium lettuce grows nativity/invasivly in the midwest where they live.

I don't think there are tropanes in wild lettuce. I've tried the stuff but it didn't do much for me. But i didn't notice any tropane-like effect like a dry throat. If you don't get a dry throat from it, then if tropanes ARE present they're only present in very, very tiny amounts. Like nicotine in tomatoes.

Okay, SWIM was only wanting to make sure cause after SWIM ingested that dose, while SWIM did feel a fairly strong sedation, SWIM woke up like they were drunk Shocked Shocked A bit dizzy and a general cloudiness of thoughts that occurred... similar to when SWIM ingested the extract the night before.... this was the main reason why SWIM brought this up. SWIM in retrospect did not have a dry mouth (typical tropane effect) and nor does SWIM have diabetes or anything medical concerns...
(Note: this is not a cry for diagnosis... only stating the facts)

SWIM will look into this further though, with a bit of caution. Wink SWIM has not had this happen before with this batch so SWIM thinks it might have occurred because of the herbal tea SWIM had before ingesting the extract. Confused

Pce and curiosity,
Elusive

When I was addicted to opiates I would frequently use large doses of wild lettuce to potentiate the effects (as tea or extract on a daily basis)

I never experienced any tropane type effects from it.

Also my wife has used it for severe tooth pain. 1/2 an ounce of material was consumed as tea. She fell asleep and woke up feeling groggy.

While I cannot say for sure it does not have trace amounts in it, I do not believe, based on my experiences with it and homemade extracts (both water and alcohol) that it has any amount that would affect a person even in pretty large doses.

I don't know SWIM and personally don't trust him at all. If SWIM is posting, most likely I will not respond...as I said, I don't trust the guy. YOU I trust, but never SWIM.
