I like to think cacti resin as a medicine, not a party drug, allthough it can get a pleasurable and fun journey, if that's what you're ought to succeed.
Taste of entheogens correlates solely to the persons ability to withstand discomfort. On the other hand, our personal comfortzone is the strongest blockage and distract for any mental transformation and personal growth. This in mind I suggest everyone to digest their plants, plant extracts, mushrooms, etc. slowly and really tasting the pure essence of the medicine at hand. Overcoming and withstanding the taste of that particular entheogen or medicine helps one to become stronger towards any obstacle or blockage within their entire worldview. In other words, by sensing your entheogen at the purest form you gain personal strenght to blast far beyond your personal boundaries and limits, thus you are actually growing before the yourney begins. The medicine starts to work when you start making, growing or extracting it. It is a never ending process and it has no starting point or final destination.
Growth is by far the most simpliest word to describe entheogenic journeys. From that point of view, you gain the full potential of every medicine when you intentionally take them as they come. This also gives you an instant appreciation for the following experience. I cannot stress enough how important that is when the medicine you're taking is psychedelic. You take Ayahuasca as it is, grude, tannic and bitter form... don't you? Why try to chase the taste with anything else. There is a reason for the plants to taste fowl, that's like their way(in a sense) of making sure, you're eating them intentionally to enduce healing/ personal growth and for that purpose only.
Two living entities combined is called a symbiosis, when the growd gets bigger it's called a party where every individual is bringing their essence within. I'm not saying sugar is a no-no for cacti, I'm saying I prefer plants with a full spectrum of commitment to their wisdom and this includes the taste, smell and general feel of the medicine, surroundings, set&setting and intention.
Attention, intention.
