I have been reading and reading and reading, my head hurts. I just don't know which way to turn. First I thought I would give a try with mimosa and dmt ext, I have been told this ext and that ext. All seem quite above my level, I think. Maybe I am not prepared for this journey, but I sure wish I could be. Any help please, I am sure you probably hear this alot, sorry. I continue to prepare my mind for opening, mentally I believe I am ready, just having trouble with the physical realm of this. Thanks

You have to keep reading man. Try to just read in small amounts, like one tek per day. Read over the forum, and slowly absorb the information.

if you want help, you'll have to be more specific with what you want. Even if you can't do a tek, there is always ayahuasca, which is amazing.

find the simplest tek that works best for you and the equipment/time/space youve got, i used a stb tek called TryptoTek it was so simple, then just read over that tek over an over again until you figure it out thats wot i did i just kept reading a couple different teks and learnt from there its actually incredibly easy once you know how but i was in a similar position to you when i started, it all seemed too much at first but then it kinda just fell into place by the time i had gotten to do my first ext.
PROHIBITION?? - just say NO!!

It always seemed pretty confusing to me as well, until I actually did it. And the STB teks are pretty easy (this is a simplified version, follow the teks to do it right)
1)add lye to water,
2)add bark to water,
3)add naphtha (or some other solvent) to the mix,
4)pull naphtha(solvent) out,
5a)evaporate naphta
OR
5b)stick naphtha in freezer and collect the crystals that form, and reuse naphtha.

Then when you move to an A/B tek it is almost just as easy (once again, this is an over simplified version, follow the teks to do it right)
1)add bark to water,
2)acidify water,
3)strain out bark, save the water,
4)basify saved water
5)add naphtha (or some other solvent) to the mix,
6)pull naphtha(solvent) out,
7a)evaporate naphta
OR
7b)stick naphtha in freezer and collect the crystals that form, and reuse naphtha.

You can do some defat/washing steps as well to get a cleaner final product, these are explained in the various teks.

The two links in my signature should provide almost everything you would want to know.

And that's an excellent beginning.

As others have said, this extraction stuff is all very greek and intimidating - until you've done it a couple of times, and then not so much after that. Myselfish, I'm a Marsofold man; it does everything you'll need it to do. It's a bit more work than an STB, but in the end it's a whole lot cleaner. Throw in a defat, sodium carbonate wash and a heptane re-x'ing or two, and what you'll end up with should rival the purity of something synthesized in a lab.

Most of the people here (SWIM included) don't have a chemistry background. There are those who do, and they can be a valuable resource for all of us. But all that you need to know is there to be found inside the WIKI. If you can bake a cake, you can bake a noodle. And it all starts with reading and reading.

SWIM wouldn't recommend starting with STB, though BLAB is reportedly quite simple. Brewing up some ayahuasca would be great place to start, but extraction can be quite simple. If SWIM had it all to do over again, he would hope to have had his start in Limtek Extraction, as it's the most simple and universal extraction method he knows of. Though he's used plenty variations of STB and A/B with ample success (even cut his teeth on FASA in its early days), SWIM now prefers limtek. When you do decide to get into extraction, anyone will tell you: An investment in some limonene would be a worthwhile venture.

The beginnings of a handbook exist on the wiki, it may give a little perspective on the world of extraction.
