I started out using the Volcano Pads and have since switched over to the copper scrubby that gibran recommends and it is definitely far superior. It doesn't take much and it works like a champ.

i have a steel cotton that now i use for "the machine" is that something you are talking about ?

where do i get this one? i live in uk by the way. and is not the steel cotton good for the job ?

Anywhere home/kitchen cleaning supplies are sold. They're usually sold as "pot scrubbers" or something similar.

"Scrubbers" are also made of stainless steel, but the metal isn't quite as malleable. "Steel cotton" or "steel wool" is not recommended - it oxidizes too easily.

Be aware that some may be made of aluminum, which is highly toxic, Parkinson-like symptoms is one of the dangers. Also note that some of these scrubbers may contain soap, which you of course don't want to inhale!

Yes, those are exactly what you want. I've never encountered any copper scrubbers that were less than pure copper, and I've never seen aluminum scrubbers (I think aluminum is too soft or not durable enough for use as a scrubber).

Copper scrubbers generally don't have soap impregnated into them, but they may have traces of cutting oil used when the metal ribbon is drawn. Gently heat your disc to burn off any oil before using it.

You're correct - I meant Alzheimer-like symptoms, not Parkinsonian symptoms. Aluminum is not used by our bodies, so repeated exposure may give deposits of aluminum in bones as well as in the CNS itself. High amounts of aluminum is neurotoxic. Even if small dosages a few times is harmless, to avoid the risk of aluminum deposits and thereby neurotoxic effects, you should never smoke out of anything made of aluminum.

They are probably pure copper. Here's a link to the US Chore Boy copper scrubber page (their scrubbers are 99.997% copper, which is extremely pure!)
