Boiling the kettle would actually agitate the reason why most people use distilled water. When you boil the water, the impurities in the water don't evaporate with the water but rather concentrate in the remaining water. Distilled water is superior because it has none of these impurities. for less than a dollar a gallon jug at every supermarket I have been to, it really is worth the extra effort to go out and get some.

The more love you put into your extraction the better the final product will be!!!!!!

You can always click the search button and put on the 'headers' "distilled water" or whatever you want to know Smile

You dont need distilled water for your typical extractions, tap water will do just fine. Ive used both and it makes no difference. The only difference is if it was some synth/high-precision kind of chem reaction or whatever, but thats not the case for our typical extractions. The minerals will anyways not dissolve in your non-polar

You should use distilled water for your FASW though.... maybe my tap water is that bad...but I get a thin wispy emulsion type thing if I shake to vigorously. Never happens when I use distilled water to fasw.

interesting point, someone just mentioned in the forum that he could barely dissolve sodium carb in water for freebasing FASW because his water was too hard and the carbonate didnt dissolve in it. So yeah in that case tap water might not be so good depending where you are (personally I never had a problem though), but for STBs/ABs where you pull with non-polar, it wont matter to use tap water
