It just isn't as interesting to me, because it loses the mysterious element. It can all be explained and tweaked by neuroscience. The thought of traveling other dimensions, interacting with beings there, getting a glimpse at another world...that's what entices me. I also feel sometimes that I'm exploring mental illness in a way. Talking and believing in entities that do not exist in our consensus reality, but while under the influence of Salvia, seem every bit as real as any person you could hope to meet.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Oh, I definitely think you're exploring mental illness there, Dioxippus! Razz hah? But in all seriousness, it's a cool thought and I think it at times.. I just honestly don't believe in any of it. I think entheogens are amazing, but in my opinion I'd be wrong to think they are anything more than drug induced effects.

And here's a quote from edot forums I really, really, liked..

Most of the reassurances I feel toward the validity of psychedelics are rooted in the fact that they appear vastly important to us regardless of the answer to your question.

Imagine I present you with a compact, easy-to-use, and extremely affordable machine that can immerse you in a virtual world which is both hyper-real and hyper-stylized, where you can interact with all sorts of unique programs and experience amazing things. This machine can create projections in this simulated environment (which itself is limited to only your perception) that are derived either from your whole personality or just snippets of it, and convey these characteristics into copies of yourself, or into copies of other people, or into forms you've never imagined. By seeing these aspects of yourself in this way, you're able to understand things about yourself that had previously never crossed your mind. Quirks, deficiencies, abilities, etc. You're able to duplicate entire models of the real world (which have been created by your brain throughout your life) and run them as simulations, introducing novel events and objects.

In the world this machine creates, random thoughts can often take material form. Imagine a donut, and a dozen donuts come shooting at you in all types of colors.
So say in the real world, you happen to be a biologist. Now, immersed in the world created by the machine, you imagine a cell. As you keep going, thinking and creating and thinking, you realize all sorts of things about the nature of this cell in the real world, and its connections to other things. Amazing, indescribable visual displays seem to convey information purely through themselves. Afterward, with your nonetheless rigid, realist mind, you understand that this machine is merely giving your mind a canvas on which to present, review, and refine its own ideas and creations. You eventually publish three papers based off the thoughts you had while using it.

Product Disclaimer: Using this machine, there is absolutely no guarantee that you're going to remember any of what you've experienced. Clinical trials conducted prior to its release to the public found that while people should be prepared for any potential dangers that may fall into the margin of error, there is no clear sign that this machine will physically harm you. Mental health specialists say pretty much the same thing, but further add that institutions have actually been reporting great success in trials that use these machines for treatment. Regardless, anyone considering using this machine is recommended to speak to their doctor first.

Want one? Great! Just eat this then. I put the whole machine in a cookie for you.

Too long, didn't read: the worth of the insights gained using psychdelics is measured by what you do with them, not by whether or not they exist outside yourself.

It just seems close-minded to me, to think that it can all be explained away. Whatever it does to us, it still cannot be fully explained. That's what keeps me interested.

I've been a very quiet and reserved person for much of my life, because I'm always afraid that people will think I'm insane. That would probably be my biggest fear, losing my sanity. But then I ask myself, "What is it to be sane?" And the definitions of sanity seem like compliance with "the norm", trying to fit in, following popular opinion. Those people who are "insane" are far more interesting than the 9 - 5 family man who questions things very little. Exploring these substances is facing my fear head on, because it seems to me that that's most likely the largest risk involved here; losing one's mind. At least I won't be bored, even after I lose what little "sanity" I have left. Smile

It' quite interesting that you mention this purple & green color dynamic. I have seen this the last 3 times I have had Salvia breakthroughs. In fact, that is exactly why I changed my profile pic. Because of the understanding I received on my most recent lift-off, I translated the data into a metaphorical dynamic within myself, like a Yin-Yang of polarities united in harmony. I had the distinct sensation of the two halves of my brain hemispheres coexisting together through the synthesis of worlds (universes) meshing as one, within my central field of awareness, the watcher or witness to the phenomena. These 'worlds' fuse through our material incarnation, yet remain independent the whole time.

I have trained myself to release the horizontal aspect of spiritual energy transmissions, thereby redirecting the force vertically. It is more difficult to achieve in Salvia Dreams states, but it can be done and it is a magnificent realization, when it spontaneously happens. By horizontal and vertical, I suggest a differentiation in modes of perception. Horizontal aspects of the energy transmission, can reveal the endless looping and our direct impressions of an infinity of identical duplications of thoughts, images and sensations. Like my previous reference to the visual ramifications of the duplication of any idea, like the example of an infinity of identical navel oranges, disappearing beyond the horizon of the vision, both directions simultaneously, within the Salvinorin A trance ritual. This echoing, mirroring and reflecting... can be seen in myriad duplications in a linear flow. Now at any point in the phenomenon, alternate cross-sections of idea or symbolic form, can change the content of the experience. Simple by the alteration of thought energy, relative to the rush of the Salvia pulse.

By vertical aspects of energy transmutation, I suggest the sequential heightening of the interior core of one's soul shell, the membrane-like cocoon, which enfolds the Omniself. By focusing on the Indivisible plane of Spirit, we facilitates a vertical ascension of sorts, thus traveling deeper into the intersection of mind and light. From this vantage point, the looping is self into non-self, into self again. So, by redirecting the current of the Salvinorin Sea, consciously, this duplicating aspect becomes reversed into a pattern of simplification and singularity of definition. The multiplicity incrementally dissolves into subtler and far subtler degrees of Omni-sensibility. This is key to the experience, as the simplification of self becomes drawn back into the core source of all awareness, The Godhead. Indian cosmology and Vedantic spiritual ideology, refers to this state as, Shravana Nirvikalpa Samadhi (the indivisible, non-dual state). Substantial folding into insubstantial. Ultimately, a whiteout experience is attainable, where the force of the indivisible current is 'zipped' into the vision of the Dreamer, whose now hollow shell of a self, is locked in a symbiosis of ego-mind and Divine mind. Hence, the Yin-Yang of polarized symbiosis.

The important message I get from perceiving this fusion of dual forces, is that my "normal waking awareness" is a only one tiny fraction of all of the manifestations of thought, which are the catalyst for their creation, intersecting within this web of some great plasticity & potentiality of being/existence. Each is no more real or unreal, than any of the other parallel universes which fold over into themselves, endlessly weaving a Grid of spiritual interconnectedness.

And yes, I have seen visions of the parallel universes 'zipping together'. The second to the last Salvia Divinorum session I had, while this process was rotating upon itself or into itself, a Salvia Being appeared before me. It way similar to the DMT fractal entities I have seen before but of a uniquely Salvinorian nature. It approached my consciousness as if to say, "What the Hell are you doing in my universe?" I recall that this was a telepathic statement, as it's mouth remained unmoving. I telepathically replied, "I am looking for God." This must have seemed hilarious to the Salvia entity, for it began to laugh uncontrollably. This time the mouth was moving with laughter (or was it singing?) as this giggling sound echoed and duplicated itself into a seeming infinity.

As I have said before, in the journey towards Advaita (non duality), the Dreamer releases all definition of form and pushes deeper into the essence of manifestation. So this being dissolved into the bubbling light pulses from which it had emerged. It did not scare me, rather, it startled me. I apparently had also startled it? some would suggest that these beings exist in parallel astral planes or alternate dimensions. I honestly don't know if their existence is independent of the Salvia trip or if they are products of the Salvia trip. It seem kind of irrelevant, though, for I question if they see our existence as par of some kind of hallucination or if they suspect that it is us, who are the phantom entities, the illusions of their imagination?

I would speculate, that one could spent countless lifetimes in these merry-go-round rides of perceptual ramification. That being said, I will commit to this idea, that the 'Salvia entity' is a real as anyone I have met on the physical plane, however, it is may be entirely relative to the Salvia Universe and it's bizarre laws and multidimensional quality. What is reality, after all?

I believe we all process the impact of these potent, Sacred Medicinal experiences, through the lens of our minds, personal psychology and mental proclivities. I have been researching the Indian concept of Advaita (non-dual or indivisible being) for over 33 years now and have gradually become focused within this plane of consciousness, to one degree or another; during my waking, sleeping, meditating and psychedelically tripped-out... variables of my centrality of self-conscious awareness of existing.

More than anything, we must learn to have balance in our lives. I believe that the greatest lesson Salvia Divinorum teaches is that it is self, more than anything else, which is illusory and that this self maintains it's cohesion, by our synthesis of awareness and unawareness. Our dichotomy of consciousness and the paradoxical nature of our sentient existence. In a manner of speaking, that is. Words can never bridge the gap which separates our direct vision and the description of the vision. Smoking the Diviner's Sage, however, reveals quite a bit about our internalized, subjective blue printing. Such an extreme rush... so much energy, radiating pulses of light force throughout our mind and body. Surely worth further exploration, I would say!!! Shocked

Peace, love & light

There is no self to which I cling, for I am one with everything.

Here are some interesting posts that discuss the colors purple and green.

GIBRAN---Thanks for the link to purple and green. It's nice to see a scientific connection to salvia trip experiences.

RISING SPIRIT----Very interesting comments concerning non-duality. Right now there are 3 Zen books next to my chair. One is called "Unborn" by the Buddhist master Bankei.

DIOXIPPUS---What an incredible trip report you shared. The year is still young. I hope we have more connections of synchronicity in the coming months. We are either both insane or history will confirm that we are part of a group of pioneering salvianauts witnessing true reality. Smile

Great post as usual Rising Spirit. Purple/green, the duality of man...

I wish this forum software had a "thank you" button for posts, because several in this thread were great to read!

I'm currently on the non-duality path...reading/listening to Nisargadatta, Osho, etc. I tend to think that the entities/worlds/etc exist both inside and outside of us. I see it all as an author/character relationship (or infinite/finite). As an individual character, we may be able to tune into these other dimensions and from this perspective, those things are outside of ourselves. But as an aspect of the author, we have that information at our disposal if we can just get to that top-level viewpoint - so it's 'inside' of us already. Oh - and be sure to mix in a few instances where the 'outside' entities are just projections of our energy/psyche/ego to help confuse things :-)
