I've been very interested in this ever since first discovering it a year and a half ago. The sounds are entrancing and captivating. I haven't really looked into how to do it until last night And I've made a little bit of progress though my throat is a bit sore now.

I'm interested in learning all forms of sounds but the high pitched one And the deep overtones type one sound really neat. I was wondering, does anyone here know how to do this and might be willing to share tips? Or perhaps know of any good YouTube instructional type videos? Thanks for any replies.

i love throat singing - i do it all the time
if you make a old school hand flute out of kelp - of the right size and get a friend to play it you can get another harmonic over yours - idk if 2 harmonics can create a third - but its frikken amazing - as if the whole room shakes or vibrates - moreso than just throatsinging in a confined space.
i remember at my old job - back when i worked - i would do it in the lift as i could get mad movement going - often the doors would spring open and id suddenly have like 20 ppl looking at me oddly haha.
it is an incredible tool in hyperspace - total navigation.
everything is vibrations - our main output device is sound - a vibration - so we have control to edit it or our experience of it.
1 minute of throatsinging gets me into a state that takes much longer via any other technique - and i feel the deep vibration inside of one has medical benefits.
eg - i smoke bong fulltime - throatsinging reduces fx on the body muchly.

here is a crash course - http://www.busker-kibbut.../HOW-TO/crashcourse.html
and here is my favorite vid - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY1pcEtHI_w
and my fav group is huun huur tu - amazing mongolian band - watch all on utoob

Huun Huur Tu are amazing!

I think this kind of thing takes years of practice. Like anything worth doing it will no doubt require patience and perseverance. And maybe a few trips to Mongolia for good measure.

Good luck with it!

For those who want to learn throat-singing please listen to the safety in Phlux- crashcourse link! Or else you might damage your throat for the rest of your life. The best is to find someone who knows throat-singing.

frogs is good teachers, they got singing down...

throat singing is awesome stuff, throat singing on psychedelics is amazing stuff, waves of harmonic vibrations that you can see feel and shape...

try harmonizing with your fridge or vacuum vibrations and then modulating the pitch and tone, then you can move onto frogs, they gots powerful vibrations.... shy... but powerful.

look up Tuvan throat singing, these people are masters at it.

in a way this can be a form of pure communication and interaction with the universe on a vibrational level, which is one of the ways the universe likes to do things...

but hoooo' boy do you look funny trying to learn, with your face all contorted making vrooooomm... vrooommmmmm sounds, just wait till you figure it out a little and want to show your friends, then you can watch them make the funny sounds.... hilarious!!!Laughing

this guy has a good web site to explore, good explanations and a forum, i dont think the forum is very active but has a good archive of info.

Not quite... throat singing creates multiple harmonic tones, buzzing, surging, meandering...
Watch Genghis Blues (1999)... Blind bluesman Paul Pena journeys to Tuva with a merry band of pranksters to compete in a throat singing competition - great movie, great look at Tuva!

Hey phlux I Just came across that link earlier today. Lots of good info and that Guy is pretty good at articulating instructions. I gotta admit, Im in class right now and I just want to start practicing again! I'm working on the 'fry' step now. I managed to get a few tones going on my own. Sort of sound like crickets humming lol. How long did it take you to learn and what styles are You comfortable with?

I'll check out these other links as well everybody. Thanks for the feedback I'm pretty excited. Smile
