I always used to think GABA-agonists simply knock you out, like valium, GHB and alcohol do. Until A-i saw a program on TV about how zolpidem can completely cure and awaken coma patients, B-i heard of l-teanine wich is a substance in green tea that isn't a sedative and wich induces a (semi)meditative state, and C-i heard ibogaine is a GABA-agonist besides affecting so many other transmitters.
This makes me think that GABA could have more complex functions in the brain than scientists currently know and understand.

I wonder if there are substances out there that are GABA-agonists or antagonists, that have psychedelic properties.

I was a GABA agonist addict so I have abused pretty much all the main stream ones..

Ambien can be trippy (visually)
Pregabalin/gabapentin can be trippy (visually)

Completely different mindset then traditional psychedelics though.

Ok, so i've been looking around on google for GABA agonists and what do i find?...muscimol is one of them. So there ARE definately GABA-psychedelic's.

And ambien appears to be another name for zolpidem. Apparently it has no nootropic effect as i suspected, at least no such effects mentioned in wikipedia or elsewhere. But visual effects are reported indeed.

SWIM has used GHB quite a bit but only on the days he also trips, never just from sober. It's best use it that it completely takes the edge off an LSD comedown at a medium dose.

At a high dose it is very very sedative especially if you sit down or lean on something, when you pass out on GHB you take a lot more to be roused than normal sleep. On a couple occasions SWIM (accidentally) took a dose that should have made him sleep but he was unable to. In this state things were really trippy, it has only happened once really bad.

SWIM took some pedro resin then a mild dose of 2c-e at about 5 hours in or so. At about 12:30am he took 26ml of his solution (10ml being medium, 15-16ml is hard to stay awake) he did this because LSD and mescaline produce tolerance to GHB and that was a reasonable high-but-not-too-high dose.

Turns out that the mescaline tolerance had faded and the 2c-e made it impossible to sleep for some reason and SWIM was tripping his face off on GHB. He felt a loop of "Just going to" and "Must DO!" and with a Deja vu feeling with everything he did and thought about. He was distracted away from everything he tried to do and his mind was so far out that despite the GHB not producing any visuals other than slight blurring of vision he confidently tried to manifest hallucinations of objects in front of him. He was tripping so hard that it seemed that it was possible but no visuals happened.
It was crazy and he eventually got to sleep. It was crazy and one of the most trippy experiences he's ever had.

The 2 teks use non-toxic lime and vinegar and Tek 1: d-Limonene or Xylene or Tek 2: Naptha to produce very quick high yields with the greatest of ease.

I am almost never on this site anymore so I will likely not answer PMs

That sounds more like a delirium than a psychedelic experience.

Fly-agaric's are realy psychedelic though, in a dissociative way. So it looks like there are several ways of GABA-agonism, like substances with a higher afinity for one specific type of GABA receptor. Normally valium, librium, etc, are thought to diminish the effects of psychedelic's, to be 'anti-psychedelic' so to speak. But fly-agaric is definately a totally different type of experience. Fly-agaric is also quite visual in nature, though in normal amounts not as visual as classic hallucinogens. I have read reports of people who've taken high doses, who described real visions, undistinguishable from the real world.
So there is a GABA-psychedelic mechanism that could be called dissociative in normal and deliriant in larger amounts.

Since i've read that fly-agaric's magic largely depends on GABA-activity, i'm thinking that it must have a great responsability for the effects of ibogaine as well, though you would not easily recognize muscimol-like effects in ibogaine.

I'm wondering if there are more substances like this. Would l-teanine be psychedelic in large amounts? It has simmilarities with muscimol in that it harmonizes brain hemnisphere's, for instance.

Pregabaline can be trippy ? At what dosage ? I once had 600mg/day prescribed for neuropathic pain and I only found it
sedating, once more it warped my memory and ability to focus.
