You have these issues everywhere these days, and everywhere, political party's take advantage of the sensitivity of people in relation to these topic's.

I would say that the constitution of a nation should offer a guideline for how far you can bent the rules in favor of any group, but besides that there should always be the willingness to get along peacefully in a positive manner. The will to find a way to resolve differences.

You can say anything about beck, but not that he is looking for peacefull ways to resolve differences.

To my mind ignorance has its benefits when it comes to tv or politics. Like the joyful innocence and playful curiosity that gets sucked out of children as they learn this cultural gig- it just feels like sludge in the gears of my brain, cramping perception.

There are simmilarities between how the official nazi's looked at some peticular subjects and how the evangelicals on the right see the world.
Racism for instance.

It is not silly calling people nazi's. I would find it disturbing that if someone is ventilating outright racist views, this would be treated as if it isn't all that bad.

Yeah, you're right. Counts for all dismissive remarks on a person. Saying that someone is a prick for instance, is kinda non-argumentative.

Well..you know what realy bug's me?
I believe it's called the 11th commandement in conservative circles. The fact that conservatives never criticise eachother but always cover eachothers back. I don't want to deny that there are conservative's or even members of the republican party that are decent guys. I always thought of john mcain as an insightfull respectable person for instance, at least before conservative's started accusing him of being too liberal so he started moving more to the right aligning with miss palin and such
But when a republican says racist things, they almost NEVER get criticised by other republicans. You realy have to say something like "all nigaz ought to be hanged" if you want other republicans to distance themselves openly, and even then it is only temporarily.

With the democrats this is far less the case. They have their flaws as well. But when a democrat says something that's realy bad, you don't get the impression that much that secretly that's what they all think and agree with.

As a result of this, all kind of realy bad things on the right like racism, homophobia or imperialistic tendencies often just don't get recognized as such

He's a ruthless instigator with an overtly reactionary disposition. I would liken his rabble-rousing to that of the Islamic revolutionaries of Iran in the 70's, as while there's plenty cause for revolution, the vision shared by Beck and his ilk is hardly that of liberation, let alone reason, and presents the possibility of something far worse for this country.

All I know is that if I hear anyone listening to Rush, Beck, O'Reilly, Palin, or whatever other conservative monstrosities on the radio in the trenches of some future civil war, they best hit the dirt.
