Here is a plan for an extraction:

1. Make basified water - 180g lye, 2.75L water
1. Put 200g MHRB in milk gallon, slowly add basified water, mix around for 30 mins
2. Add 250mL naptha, stir for 20 mins, wait ~15 mins or until layers completely separate.
3. Extract naptha into a jar, place in freezer for 24hrs.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 about 4 times. (2nd pull wait 30 mins, 3rd pull wait 2 hrs, 4th pull wait overnight)

Someone may or may not add more pulls, depends on amount yielded.

Does anyone have any advice to better this? It's just a modified Lazyman which I know is not very popular but should work best under someone's circumstances. Particularly, are the times for stirring good? And what about the time letting the naptha sit in between pulls?

Finally, what's the best way to stir/mix? I've heard some say shake and I've heard some say roll. I'm just looking for someone with experience to help this be as perfect, effective, and risk free as possible.

Thanks in advance.

I only have a couple considerations to offer. Firstly, I would substitute the milk jug for a glass cider or wine jug. It may be more expensive, but liquid hydrocarbons tend to leech out some unpleasant compounds from the plastic which might not be too "tasty".

And as for the stirring, what's generally recommended is "rolling" or slowly mixing the jug by rotation. If the pH isn't sufficiently high (13.8 I believe), emulsions will more easily form, which may take quite a long time to separate out. Some say adding table salt (non-iodized) to the aqueous fraction will reduce emulsions, but I would just try to avoid it altogether.

As long as you mix your lye and basified bark solution in glass you can always transfer it to a milk jug.

Once the plant material has basified with the NOAH solution it shouldn't have any problems in the plastic(just make sure it's HDPE)

A hint on when you do your pulls:

put all of your pull into a glass that you won't be sticking in the freezer. this will allow you to catch a few of those black specks from the bark solution.
Pour the naptha from the glass into your freezing dish...the black goo will stick to the first glass.

Oh indeed, a basic aqueous solution should be fine, but adding volatile petrochemical solvents to plastic vessels isn't really a good idea (his tek doesn't pull naptha until after it's already been added to plastic). Like I said, it probably won't degrade the plastic appreciably, but it might depolymerize or leech out unwanted chemicals or plasticizers. Polypropylene would probably be safest (number 5 in the recycle triangle).

Thanks for all the info! Someone will basify the water in a glass jar, stir by rolling to avoid emulsions, and use a an additional glass pan to intercept the goo. Someone will also see if they can find any polypropylene as well.
