I work in mental health professionally and used to work when i was younger in a psyche ward.
I've been really interested in herbal alternatives to psychiatric medicine and I've done some research into original plant sources from commonly used medications today.
Respirine originates from Indian snake root :Rauwolfia Serpentina
http://en.m.wikipedia.or...iki/Rauwolfia_serpentinaBeing a natural product from a plant American pharmaceutical companies can't make as much money on it so they developed respirdol/respirdone. An effective antipsychotic.
Respirine is effective and naturally occurring in snake root.
Ghandi utilized snake root as a sort of sedative. It has low toxicity, and my theory is that a cup of snake root tea or a tincture could be an effective way to get some one out of the often traumatic bad trip/trainwrecks we all
Know and love so well.
Another possible plant is the ghost pipe or Indian pipe or corpse plant : Monotropa uniflora
This plant is really interesting to swim because it is just fascinating! It was used as an opium substitue in the old days and has salicylic acid in it among other things and it's been shown to have antiepileptic effects. Antiepileptic drugs are often used as antipsychotic drugs. An herbalist and teacher of naturopathy recently used it on some one with what I assume was meth induced psychosis on some strange guy who happened onto his property. A little net search on this one and you will find it.'
I believe that this could be effective as well in bring some one down if needed. At least I couldn't hurt and it's also fairly nontoxic.
These are some good plants I think to explore and do some home work on because they could come in very handy for those moments where a guest or your self end up
Flying off the deep end for 8 hours screaming a choose life like terrified monkey at the top of their lungs! Seen it scary..
I don't want to say bad trips are not educational and important or something to ignore or get rid of, but temporary drug induced psychosis is dangerous and swims seen people have to be restrained as well as people attempt to harm themselves and others in these hard trips.
Swim recent read of a over dose on erowid of 5meoace-dmt and he took a respirdone and was down fairly quickly...
http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=58167I think it's worth exploring these and having them available especially at festivals and events where lots of drugs are taken. Offering some one a nice cup of tea that makes you come down is just a nice thing to do for
Some one who's suffering from drug induced psychosis...
Dorge is cooperatively owned and cooperatively run by various hyperspacial entities working as a collabertive sentience project for the betterment of sentient exploration.
