She will get elected president. She and her minions will screw things up so bad that we will have to start over again.

I haven't really thought this out. I'm sure it would actually be a horrible thing. Too many people would be hurt by her insanity.

Didn't we just go through this starting in 2000? The banks failed, manufacturing jobs disappeared, endless wars, rich getting richer and we finance it all by borrowing. I shouldn't be reading this thread.

Nah. The difference is that bush wasn't a true believer. cheney was only in it for the money and power. Not that it didn't get really bad.... but with palin, I imagine witch hunts... you know, actual witch hunts. Forced prayer services several times a day, public exorcisms televised around the clock. The tanks would roll on the WH in 3 months.
Or not. We'd probably end up in a nuclear war in her first month. She's evil and dimwitted. So, I figure she must be a real politician.
It probably doesn't really matter. I have the feeling things are going to stay ugly no matter who is in office.

Ha, I don't want to start a flame war, but I don't think it will matter. I bet 99% of the people here are libertarian or at least socially democratic.
I agree with small "Republican" government, but the republicans are so hypocritical and the democrats don't seem to have any balls, lol. They are too polarized and we need more than two parties in order to have moderates. The two parties basically do the same things. Even when promising a completely different agenda.

why would anyone flame you? you'd basically vote for Ron Paul, right?
lots of people would. As you know, he was a Republican candidate, who held a lot of libertarian ideals. Somewhat socially liberal, fiscally conservative.

the problem is, the Republican majority took on a neoconservative flavor during the Bush-era, which was a far-cry from Reaganomics and real conservativism.

They're equally corrupted, but that doesn't mean there's no difference.
Republicans are definately worse.
Under the democrats, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, under the republicans, the rich get A LOT richer and the poor get A LOT poorer.

palin says "If men and women were angels, there would be no need for government"

I say - If our Government were not so Evil , men and women could be free to use entheogens to help them find the Divinity within.

Obviously everything the Shaman says is Hyperspace Hyperbole

What gives this woman any political say anyway? She no longer holds any position affiliated with politics, except perhaps "Fox news correspondent" but I'm confident we can all see through FOX news, LOL... this woman's career now is having a reality TV show... on the LEARNING CHANNEL... they follow her and her family around Alaska doing certain things like shooting guns, climbing rocks, and so transparently trying to portray her a certain way. Worst of all the show is called SARAH PALIN's ALASKA... YUP It's hers!! HA. If that doesn't clearly portray what a joke american politics has become I dont know what does...

Oh there are several other things that could, but i find it hard to mention them because there are just so many of them, making it just impossible to make a complete inventory of 'things that clearly portray what a joke american politic's has become'.

There are a few decent politicians out there but those people are completly powerless because they don't have the support of big money interests. In fact government officials aren't the ones who run this country (U.S.) at all. They are there only to serve their corporate masters and they have zero power until they learn that fact. I think Obama's heart is in the right place but he's getting a quick education in how things work in Washington and the country. And yeah, I,m totally baffled how Palin even got elected mayor of a small town in Alaska.

As long as people pay attention to Palin and her brood she will be around...It is simply the cult of personality. I quit watching TV, which was a hard habit to give up, but now I cant stand to be around one that is on. I think that idiot box is responsible for the majority of the dumbing down of america AND the divided , vitriolic political situation.

I have an idea, a little political reform that takes away ALL incentive for being in politics other than being a true CIVIL SERVANT...No private planes to carry these common people around, make them go through the same invasive procedures everyone else has to go through trying to travel...Terrorists and terrorism doesnt scare me or worry me but, my government frightens the crap out of me.

Personally, I am holding out hope for a 2012 paradigm shift, apocalypse , armegeddon, pole shift, alien invasion , time wave zero event that makes a HUGE toilet flushing carrier wave noise..WHOOOOOOOOOSH gurgle gurgleTwisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I think a huge mistake of obama is the following: at his inauguration he should have said "listen people, i made all these promisses during my campagne, but looking at the state of the country now, i realise that i won't be able to deliver even 99% of what i've promissed and my powers to fix the economy are very limited.".

If he would have said that, then i think a large percentage of the americans would have understood that things where about to get realy rough, and that politic's is not fully to blame because it is not fully responsible for the economic situation america is in.

It would have been the most honest thing that he could say, and i think the people would have understood it. Now, obama has lost a lot of credibility, simply because he doesn't deliver on most that he has promised.

As far as i know guantanamo bay's illegal prison is still open and not about to close, for instance.
I don't doubt that obama would WANT to close it down, but apparently he can't. So now he looks like he doesn't realy care.

of course

do you know how quickly he would get whacked if he actually initiated real change?
media makes it seem like lone nuts assassinate presidents. that's bullshit. special interest lobby groups, federal agencies, even congressmen...they all hire these 'crazed' people to do it.
groupthink at its ugliest.
I think you know what happens when people try to rock the boat, just look at the JFK incident.

Did you know kennedy actually HAD a boat?

The more i learn about kennedy, the less i like him.
For instance, the majority of the people who listened to the debate with nixon, instead of watching it on TV found that kennedy lost the debate while people who watched it found that he had won it.
Besides the fact that this makes kennedy look like a sort of paris hilton avand la lettre, this means he actually managed to loose a debate from nixon when it comes to the actual content of the debate.
That's sad.

I think bill clinton is actually the best kind of president possible for america. He made some realy bad decissions, but it looks like realistically speaking his way of 'leading' the nation is probably the best possible way of doing it: leaning a little more to the left and you'll have a civil war, leaning a little more to the right and you'll have more of other kind of wars and more civil liberty's taken from you.

American presidents are hated anyway, as the rest of politic's. Clinton at least managed to keep the country from being constantly on the brink of a civil war.
