I took approximately 8g of blue lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) stamens infused in boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Ate some of the stamens (very much like shredded wheat), then refilled the mug when finished with more boiling water and let infuse for 10 minutes more, and then drank and ate the rest.

Can't say I noticed any effects - I was quite relaxed and chilled out, but I probably would have been anyway as I'd just sat down after work and getting things sorted in the house.

So, then filled two bowls of blue lotus in GVG and vaped (first use of GVG also). It had quite a nice taste, but no real noticeable effects either from this.

I've some Blue Lilly (Nymphaea caerulea) coming in the next day or two, maybe I'll notice some effects from it.
The trees spoke to me through the wind. The more I listened, the more they spoke.

That quite conclusively proves that blue lotus has no noticable psychoactive effects. I myself didn't use it in that context, I had heard it was good for anxiety: and so I took 1 - 2g in a couple of sittings. Within a few days the anxiety feeling I had been getting *incessently* dissapeared, and stayed gone for weeks. when it started to come back, I took more blue lotus. Again, it dissapeared, and has stayed gone to this day. Make of that what you will!

Entheojen, try eating 15-20g (or a tbsp or two) of raw powdered lotus/stamen on an empty stomach. It's a little more noticeable, my preferred dose when not mixing with alcohol or kratom. Just a pleasant sub-mj type of high, but the alc/krat really go well with it.

UPDATE:
~22g Nelumbo nucifera (this may not be the proper blue lotus/blue lilly that has noticeable effects)
750ml 2008 Californian Shiraz (13.5% alcohol)
Steeped for 3 days.

No noticeable effects.

20g/bottle should be plenty if you have good lotus. I have always used Nymphaea Caerulea from Maya and it's worked well... you could steep it for a few more days if unsure.

Fortunately, wine can be cheaper than lotus. Smile

Have you or any other members here smoked blue lily in changa blends?

Would it provide any kind of maoi inhibition when smoked?

I wouldn't say that.
I have smoked dried Blue Lotus material and was quite pleased. It is quite subtile however, but a defenite mildly sedative, mentally clearing and generally apeacing was noticed. Allthough it may have been powerfull placebo effect, this plant still has potential. Perhaps it is a most powerfull substance it contains, but it just requires a different method of Ingestion. It could just as easily be as powerfull as DMT, yet we wouldn't know if we only tried to drink teas or swallow capsules of them. Perhaps it needs to be vaporised in extracted, pure form. Would it not be worthwhile making an extract of Blue Lorus material and trying to vaporise it? Who knows what you will find.
