So a trend ive noticed , is that people who take psychedelics , seem to be be adverse to alcohol more often then people who dont.
generalization i know , dont shoot me down . we may have some avid beer chuggers on the nexus.

But whilst ive always found alcohol a great social tool , im now starting to think i should just stop entirely .

Ive had two mescaline trips , and both times have had an awesome feeling afterwards , two weeks after the first time. But then after the second time , about three days afterwards , i ,um , er , got very very drunk . much too drunk , it was god damn terrible. Woke up the next day and felt horrible. wrote that day off. but then the next day , got up and felt fine but all the intense great effects from psychedelics like seeing the world differently thinking a lot more, and about new things ; bang , gone overnight . deadened me entirely , almost worse then before the mesc.

any one else feel like booze is the anti entheogen?

I must say I agree. I dont drink alcohol at all, ever, and I feel it to actually be pernicious to the human psyche, health and society in general. I dont like being around drunken people and I often find their manifestations to be negative or unbalanced/unsustainable.. I also think the alcohol industry in general is horrible and I wouldnt want to give my money to it, and that society is highly hypocritical about it ("say no to drugs" programs in tv followed by a beer commercial with a hot blond girl, for example). 2.5 million people die each year because of this substance. I've seen alcohol destroy lives upclose, not only of those that use it but of other innocent people too due to alcohol-fueled violence and accidents.

That being said, I do understand that for example a small amount of wine (but also grape juice) can have a positive health aspect, that alcohol has served for inspiration to some people, and that ultimately, as long as you dont affect others negatively, its up to you to decide what to do.

Also I know that indigenous people can drink alcohol and have a very 'spiritual/ceremonial' relationship with it too (though its fermented drinks, never distilled... ).

I dont drink at all anymore. I gave it up for good and dont have any inclination to drink again. Alcohol in even small ammounts makes me feel not good after, and it feels deadening to my consciousness. The hardest part unless your addicted to it is probly just the social aspect becasue it seems like most people drink and think everyone else does.
Long live the unwoke.

Not at all. I actually really like booze both for flavour and effect.

I suppose it is the anti-entheogen in a way but in another it's also an entheogen itself, although no where near as profound.

For about 2 years I didn't drink much at all and was using entheogens monthly. I became quite isolated during this time and my social life has never really recovered, especially as I don't smoke cannabis anymore which was the main substance of my local circle.

About a year back I moved into a town that was way less... progressive than I'm used to and it really highlighted the "us and them" anxiety I'd been feeling and for months I didn't really socialise at all because of it. Then enter my brother the drunk who as a result of lady trouble started drinking lots and I became his 'sitter' if you will. Along the way I've met a good handful of folk who I believe to be my sort of people other than the fact they just drink and don't indulge in psychedelics we have an awful lot to say to eachother and have some fun times.

I doubt I'd have anywhere near as much to say to you people on this here forum if I had never indulged in psychedelics because I wouldn't be on the same level of understanding. For me it's the same for alcohol. But likewise as I'm not going to load 400mg DMT into a large bong, it's also important to follow the same restrictions with alcohol (though it is more tricky).

Also I found a little bit of beer after a long mescaline journey to be pretty good Smile
