Apparently there aren't many places which sell psytrance on vinyl,
it seems to lean indesputedly to CDs. What's with that?

i used to go to the psychedlic dream temple in camden every other week to buy a new psytrance record on vinyl. I ended up selling my decks but i have my records still. Playing with cd's is really fun, but nothing compares to the old school technique

n00b!

vinyl will never die.
of course digital formats are more practical, but purists and audiophiles
will always cut their teeth on polyvinyl chloride.

Psy was never a vinyl thing because it doesn't do well in heat and psy is a very warm country thing i.e Goa. The last I heard warped vinyl doesn't sound so good.

That's the 90's reason anyways. Now it's just that psy is a low selling genre and vinyl is a low selling medium. Most psy listeners don't buy records and psy DJ's use cd's/ digital format recordings.

House/Techno/DnB however already have an established history built on the vinyl and it's always going to be an accepted thing.

That reason about vinyl warping in hot countries rings true. I have some vinyl but it's all epic dance, and probably getting on a bit now. Really really cheezy, from when I was 14.
I think i should sell my stuff to be honest, but my mum told me not to. Told me "it's not yours to sell." hah.

When I switched from spinning techno to psy back in the day I managed to get hold of some vinyl. Tip-world, Shiva Chandra, Blowout and maybe Iboga used to release on vinyl. I really enjoyed that style of mixing using vinyl, but after dragging around my decks, having my vinyl get full of dust and messing up my standton needle's I got fed up of it.

I wonder if psyshop.com still release vinyl?

i remember purchasing my first ever psytrance vinyl from psyshop about ten years ago! I don't know if they still do sell vinyl but i doubt it. Psy used to be played on vinyl quite a bit... At least in london squat parties and in milan italy when i lived there from mid to late 90's. Haven't seen any being used in years though. It's just so much easier to carry cd's around and the decks are so much lighter too. I used to think the hands on vinyl approach was the only way to go when mixing psy, but hearing that the records would get warped in hotter countries makes loads of sense... I would still play around with them if i hadn't sold my technics.

I wish I could release really cheap sorta, "throwaway" vinyl lp's, at like £3.50 *new*. that would chill everyone out a bit.
