Hi,

I have bought a small baking tray that came with a plastic lid, as a precipitation container... My question is, should the container be closed when it is in the freezer with the naphtha(q21q21's tek)?

How hot the water should be(in the lower bowl), should I just put there straight some boiling water, or should I wait for it to cool down? Or: If I just put the tap water at maximum temperature, will it be sufficient?

And is there any method to test if the freezer is cold enough -without a thermometer?

Thanks

The water in the lower bowl should be boiling. The hotter it is, the more it heats the naptha and the more alkaloids can dissolve into the naptha.

As for your freezer... they normally work at -18C.

"Depending on which type of freezer you have, the coldest area in an upright freezer is usually at the top, whilst in a chest freezer it is on the compressor step or on the bottom or floor of the freezer. " - http://www.helpwithcooki...ge/add-food-freezer.html

If it freezes water into ice, that's a good start. If it's not even that cold, then forget about it lol.

Just something to note, the naptha will not freeze in a standard freezer and does not need to for this tek, so don't be expecting it to. It's freezing point is around -47C.

ive done this tek many times now and have played around a bit with different adaptations. to answer your question no you dont need to have a lid on it but do cover it if there a chance debris can fall into the naphtha.

as far as water temp goes i actually prefer to separate my washes in to 2 groups the first couple washes i use med heat. certainly not a boil just enough so the naphtha is quite warm to the touch. the reason i do this is because although its not the most efficient way to get every last drop of dmt out it produces absolutely pure as snow white crystals.

ive noticed the more heat you use the more fats that you pick up giving the spice a yellow beige color and making it a bit more tacky. so i use the high heat for thje final washes to keep my yield up.

also if your not in a hurry dont place the naphtha right into the freezer. give it 12 hours at room temp, then 12 hours in the refrigerator, then finish in the freezer. you will get much larger crystals and not so much dmt powder. its the same substance i juts like the crystals better.

heres a side by side of the 2 washes end product.

Thanks olympus. I have couple more questions: Does it matter if the vinegar is 5% or 10% for the tek?
And is -10 degrees celsius enough in the freezer?

im gonna have to guess as im not a chemist but i doubt it should matter. if you noticed in the tek q21 states that you could probably use half vinegar half water diluting your vinegar but since vinegar is cheap ....yada yada.

so im guessing it shouldn't matter. just use a little extra maybe but if your not stranded in the wilderness and have a grocery store near you i would just go pick some up.Very happy

heres another good tip. after you ad your lime and the gunk is basifying give it no less than 1 hour. i think 2 hours is best. this will give your first pull a much better yield. if your doing the pure white low heart trick you want the most white dmt you can so try to get the bulk of the dmt out in the first 2 pulls. again its juts for show i doubt it matters in potency or purity.

Very happy the slower and more gradual you cool the naphtha the bigger the crystals.

turn you freezer all the way down/coldest and i wouldn't worry about getting an accurate reading on the temp. it willl be fine. after you pour off the naphtha you can save it in a glass baking dish the bigger the better. let all the liquid evap and you will see if you left anything behind. in a large flat baking dish you should be able to evap in a few days with a fan on it.

i just did my own extract yesterday. coming out of the freezer in juts a few hours.

When freebasing in lime, the tek says it should be 2-5 hours to freebase totally, so I'm going to at least 2 hours:
-As long as it is mixed and stays warm (by replacing the water below periodically) it should only take a 2-5 hours for 99% the alkaloids to freebase.

But why does the tek say then that the naphtha should be added after 1 hour?:
Non-Polar Wash:
Note: If in a hurry this step can be done within 10-15 minutes of the lime being added and will likely get 20-30% of the DMT. But the first pull would be best done ~60 minutes to get a larger portion of the spice in the first pull, but the longer it is left the more will be pulled

I don't understand... Did he really mean that the pull should be done 60 minutes after adding the NAPHTHA?

Anyway, how long should I have the naphtha in the mix before pouring it off to the precipitation container? Thanks!

yea there some writing errors in this tek if you havent noticed. i think the reason he says go ahead after one hour is because the gunk continues to freebase during and between pulls. if you notice he says let the stuff sit a bit between pulls. this is why.

in a best case world i think it best to let the whole thing freebase totally uninterupted, the whole 5 hours, before pulls are started but its probably doesnt make that big of a yield difference. i always let my gunk sit over night and then try one last pull. if theres nothing left i assume i got it all.

OK thanks again.

But I still don't know how long should I keep the naphtha in the mix before it is poured into the precipitation container.

So I will let the lime freebase for 2-4 hours for sure, but I need to know also how long will I have to keep the naptha in the mix before pouring it off...

After I pour it off, is it fine if I put it into a closed baking tray for 2-4 hours, then into refrigerator another 2-4 hours and at last let it freeze overnight? Or should I just pop it straight into the freezer(will it affect the yield?)?

Thanks

sorry i missed that question. let the naphtha sit in the gunk for 20 min stirring occasionaly.

you wont affect the yield by popping it in the freezer right away but like a said before you will end up with dmt powder not crystal.

Great, I probably don't have to worry about evaporating the naphtha in that time? Or should I cover the mixture while it's sitting so the naptha won't evaporate?
Should it sit around 20 minutes at each pull?

Wish me luck!Very happy

no any evap that may occur will only help the dmt molecules fall out ot the naphtha. the freezer is doing what evaporating does just much more quickly, condensing the solvents molecules squeezing out the dmt. i wait 30 min between pulls.

heres my first dried pull from today.

Nice result you got! When you said you wait 30min between pulls, did you mean that you keep the naptha in the mix for 30min before pouring it off?

My freezer currently shows only -13 degrees celsius, is that enough?

One more thing: After I pour the naphtha off, will the remaining naphtha just evaporate by itself in room temperature from the crystals in couple hours, before scraping them off?
