I am moving soon... and I just got an email from my landlady asking if it is okay for her to show my apartment while I'm not home.

For all of you extracting in your kitchens... What do you say?! What do you do? What are your thoughts? What is reasonable?

Confused

Say no. The only reason she is asking is that she requires your permission. Tell her you live a busy life and would appreciate at least 24 hours notice (each time) to clean up, throw out the empty chinese takeout containers and make the place attractive and rent-able. That way you can have your place spotless Very happy for her visits. If she is convinced it is to her advantage, she'll thank you with a big Very happy . And on your end, you need to respect the 24 hour deal. Remember, she has no cards to play - you're already leaving!

Anyway, that's what I would do, but i am a crazy canuck.Cool

The thing is, this is also an extremely odd and tiny apartment with literally NO storage space. I have no closets and no kitchen cabinets. I could hide by bottles of fumaric acid in my underwear drawer?

I have literally nowhere to hide my botanicals, though. I have two cabinets under the sink and they're packed full of plants.

It just takes one curious person to open something and be like, "Hm, what's this?!" Not even that, but just a curiosity about how much space is available... Confused I don't really have things out in plain sight... but I don't really have anywhere to HIDE my things if someone wants to see how spacious the place is.

I guess strange powders out of sight is doable.

I guess botanicals by themselves aren't, um, that sketchy?

A big jug of limo under the sink by itself also isn't too bad.

Then, again, I also have a giant bong that is going to be a rotten challenge to conceal... Crying or very sad

I tell them it is a Chinese herbal remedy. Then I go off on a tangent about the value of natural compounds as opposed to mass manufactured goods and how natural remedies have fewer side effects because most manufactured chemicals have isomers etc... Just talk passionately and over their heads and they will try like hell to change the subject.

I would just straight up leave the plants out in the open. Say you like growing things. Unless it's something that is obviously illegal (Cannabis, shrooms) they think you like growing things. How many people are going to recognize Mimosa or whatever it is your growing? On this site a number would, but outside of it? Nearly nobody. And if you go vovin's route make sure that you have a specific similar looking botanical in mind that has a legitimate effect.

If your growing unsightly botanicals... I'm not sure what to do.

I would worry about the things that can be recognized, ie the gigantic bong you mentioned, not the plants or a jug of limo. The powders could be sketchy but unless you have heaps upon heaps it shouldn't be hard to conceal.

It would be no sweat if I could be there, I would tell them they are all remedies for things like athlete's foot, yeast infections, canker sores in my mouth... [list of horrible and disgusting symptoms here] Pleased My only concern is her showing the place when I'm not home.

I'm only growing bamboo and ferns at the moment. Razz

But it just sketches me out to think that people can very easily crack open a cabinet and see bags of strange plants. All of them with long Latin names, labeled "not for human consumption." Confused 2 kilos of vine, 500g of Wayusa (the size of a bedpillow), all my mysterious leaves and... But if it's only dried herbs stored without anything else incriminating, it should be okay.

All my little lip balm containers full of spiced herbs, well, I can hide those in my bed. Twisted Evil

Argh. >.<

... or rent a small storage unit for a month before you move and stash your goodies there ...
Everything mentioned herein has been deemed by our staff of expert psychiatrists to be the delusional rantings of a madman who has been treated with Thorazine who is hospitalized within the confines of our locked facility. This patient sometimes requires the application of 6 point leather restraints and electrodes at the temples to break his delusions. If you can get all incriminating things into spots where your absolutely positive no would never find them, then go for it..otherwise, i'd just say no and make up a bunch of excuses..its not worth the risks!

alright, halt all extractions and just throw it in a gym bag (you're fit after all so it won't be conspicuous at all)

Or just say no. (I'd still put my stuff away though. Wait you live in a basement right? Do you live with the landlord in the same house? If so yeah just get that stuff out asap. Halt extractions and store it at a friends place.

Stop or finish all your extraction and stuff everything in your box spring.
You lock the door, and throw away the key
