The complexity behind tool is genius. They are able to change the time signature on demand, "schism" is a great example of this. Takes quite impressive skill to synchronize so entirely like that.

On another note, anyone into King Crimson? They were one of the influences in Tool's music. Apparently they claimed they didn't use psychedelics, but the music's pretty out there.

I resonate a lot with both parabol and parabola on Lateralus. I love the lyrics and think the two songs together are simply amazing!

I think this is a little more representative of Crimson's influence than toapp:

I like the Tool, Alex Grey, and Bill Hicks concoction myself. They compliment each other well.

Yeah, the song Jambi, the musical timing? the cool of the voice? I don't know, but the first and only time I smoked spice while drinking was in front of my computer with Jambi playing.

It was a great rush, a very comfortable, dance of colors and energy. Although I did get the impression that something did not approve of indulging the way I did too often. It seemed to say like, 'ok, we're gonna go easy on you, know you had some rough trips past, but hey, don't make a habit of this'

The music is very different and very invigorating for me. Generally I like the ambient sounds more, but the energy of tool, is a positive and strong force with me.

My ego is insane, but I'm alright

tool is about the only thing i listen to! not because i love them that much but because they are the only band i can tolerate all the time. i don't watch tv. don't read books. don't watch many movies. i like to do drugs adn think. listening to music keeps me from thinking. i put on tool and can drift off in thought and come back every now and again and listen. it's like the elevator music of my mind. i listen when i'm in between floors of thought. tool is ALWAYS playing at my place (whether i'm there or not...my dog loves tool..heheSmile , in my car, on my phone. it's a bit obsessive but i don't care. tool allows me to freely think without becoming invasive to my head. and it really is great music. i'm a huge tool geek.

trivia...who knows what "useful idiot" is? it's a soundbyte from tool but who knows what the sound is?

i believe that is his cat (purring or being squeezed or something) and the sound slowed down. correct?

also. If you got the vinyl edition of Aenima, "Useful Idiot" is the last track of side A. So, when it starts, you think that the side A ended and that the song "Useful idiot" is missing. ever the pranksters!!!

ever hear LA municipal court? it's one of their live recordings. ity was a noise project that they subjected the crowd to. pretty rad!!!

i have long been a tool fan, way befor i ever touched even a cig.
a sober little random would marvel at the lyrical content and quazi worship the man behind the mic....
lets not forget those fuckin off the hook musicians people!
adam jones is absolutly mind blowing. so much feeling behind that haunting guitar tone.
justin is deffinatly the best bass player out there....

IS there any one better on drums as far as writing goes?

this is just my opinion.
