I want to buy a good scale that can measure in milligrams and is accurate. I am considering getting this: American Weigh GeminiPRO Digital Milligram Scale 20g x 0.001gI have heard that American Weigh scales are sometimes cheap counterfeits and wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions on this scale or another scale. THX Maay-yo-naze!

If you are not bothered about the price tag that will be an excellent scale. I did a bit of research before buying mine and got this one from ebay: Amput 439I think I paid about 50USD. It is very accurate and the quality is reasonable. It came with a box to keep it safe and is all that I need. There are plenty of Chinese manufactured scales that others on the nexus say are OK which you can pick up from ebay for 20USD or less. I think it all depends on your budget, if you are flush with cash, get that one. If you just need to weigh your spice with reasonable accuracy, there are much better value options out there. Regards the fakes there are plenty of copycat scales that look very like the American Weigh models, so buy from a respected vendor. That said, there are plenty of copycat Rolex watches out there, but they still keep accurate time Oh great - the world has just been replaced by elf machinery. Sic transit gloria mundi

A FOAF bought these on UK ebay for £39. Judging by weighing coins, they appear to be accurate to one milligram...which seems amazing for the price.

Search eBay for "milligram scale" and you will find scales that cost about 10 bucks and work just fine. I wouldn't use them for really dose sensitive RC's because I feel that the scale is inaccurate below 10 or 15mg, but for spice dosages I use 25-100mg (depending on desired strength and number of people partaking) and it's accurate enough. I wouldn't waste my money on a big fancy scale.

Thanks to all. I think that my main worry is inaccuracy (being scientifically minded and a jack of all trades if you understand what I mean) and quality of the product that I buy. I do have a bit of money to spend though so I will continue my research for a little. Maybe the quality of this scale is worth the money. I mean sure a $20 scale will get the job done but for how long. I don't want to be buying a new scale every year if I could buy one good one and have it last for years. Plus this scale has a ten year warranty, a case, tweezers, and calibration weights. Maay-yo-naze!

I'll admit my cheapo scale seems rather cheaply made, but so does the one you linked. I think any pocket scale is going to be that way. If you really want to invest in a good scale, you should look for a Tanita or Acculab brand scale, but expect to spend $200+
I've had my 10 dollar scale for over a year now and it still works just fine. Haven't even had to replace the batteries or recalibrate it. btw the cheapo scales also come with calibration weights and tweezers although I don't think that's much of a selling point since headshops sell that stuff for dirt cheap

You know, I looked at the mini-pro-50 and I thought it was good but I can not buy it directly from American weigh. I guess they don't have it in stock right now which is kind of a bummer. I'd rather buy it directly from American Weigh for fear of cheap knock offs. Maay-yo-naze!
