I tried the lazyman's tek and acquired a good amount of spice. But here's the thing, my spice looks/smells kinda of weird. On my glass pyrex it looks like a bunch of tiny little clear spores and it smells a lot like naptha.
I can see the little spores all formed along side of the pyrex, but there's still that clear liquid of naptha roaming around there.


Do you guys think I should let it evaporate more, or should I keep it in the freezer longer? Or is this just naptha backwash that has to be disposed of?

Can we get some pictures? I'm confused as to what you mean by spores. Either way, you could do a recrystallization if you're unsure about the quality of the spice you've got.

If there's still naptha I think you you need to evap more. You could try using a fan to make sure there is none left. Once there's no naptha you can use a razor to scrape it up.

From your description it sounds like you def still have solvent roaming around, in which case you should no try and consume any of said spice. Leave the dish out and the naptha should be gone shortly. To speed things up a bit you can use a fan and blow it over the dish.

When its finished you should smell ABSOLUTELY NO!!!! Naptha.

ok, guys. swim's finished product doesn't resemble crystals. it sort of resembles a waxy slice out of a vanilla candle. it's light yellow in color and feels/smells waxy.

i tried some and it smelt a little like plastic. i tried a tiny speck, and felt very peculiar. i didn't see any thing but just had a very anxious feeling. i felt a growing rush of anxiety and worry. my mind kept repeating, "no, no, don't go stay here!"

is this divine moments of truth? or was this some after effect of vm&p N?

needless to say, if that was any sort of resemblance to a dmt trip; then i may have to wait a while to try it.

Sometimes when you evaporate off the crystals and fat can trap naptha beneath it. I have had this happen myself. the thing I do is scrape everything up and then use a blade to spread it all back out in the dish. This allows the naptha to hit the air and it does quickly after this as there is usually only a small amount. For me this is usually from a quick fan assisted evap.

If it has a waxy consistency that means there usually is some plant fats in it. A recrystallization will help get rid of this but if it is plant fats for me at least it makes the smoking a little smoother so I actually prefer to leave it in. Without pics I am only guessing at the situation tho.

it can be a mixture of plant oils, dmt, dmt n-oxide, trapped naphtha preventing it from hardening, etc.. Only some technical analysis could say for sure. In any case its definitely active. You can recrystallize it if you want crystals (check the FAQ for instructions) or you can smoke as-is. Use some clean non-denatured acetone/ethanol/IPA to redissolve that and evap onto some herbs. Weigh herbs before and after to know how much product you have

If the trapped naphtha is what your worried about, just agitate the yellow wax a bit and blow on it. It'll evap pretty quickly.

IME if you have goo forming after freeze precip, then you did something wrong. What I do, after pouring the naphtha out and sticking the container back in upside down for about 1 hour (and I probably overkill it, but I occupy my time with other things) I take it out, take the lid off and put it, still upside down, onto paper towel. The crystals still stay and they dry out better. Sure I MIGHT lose a BIT of spice, but not enough to get frustrated over.

After about 30-60 mins of upside down drying on paper towel, the spice is usually very dry and easy to scrape off with a blade.

Neither of my extracts have resembled crystals. A freeze precip resulted in small crystals which were broken during the recovery process. The final result was a whitish powder. An evap at 5C yielded small whitish yellow dots. I recovered those washed out the evap pan with a small amount of naptha and evapped that in a smaller dish.

When I first tried a small amount there was definitely a rush of anxiety which didnt really go away. Every time I've done it (which is a small handful only to the point of some CEVs) there has been that rush. The first time it worried me but it doesn't anymore.
