I have found what is probably a lifetime supply (as long as I am not greedy) of Illinois bundleflower along a trail near my house. In the midwest where I live it can often grow like a weed. I was wondering if anyone knows when the optimal time to harvest some roots would be. The weather is starting to get cold and I don't know how that might affect the potency of the plants.

Would it be worth it to dig up a few roots now or should I wait until there is new growth in the spring?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

That is really disappointing that that no one on the Nexus can answer this question.

What ever. I guess that I will have to pioneer this realm myself.

Yes – please be a pioneer! We need more people who are willing to experiment with other DMT-containing plants. Someday, our beloved MHRB may be very difficult for many of us to acquire, so if someone shows the community that there are other good sources, we will be less dependent on our current source. Maybe you’re that someone!

So yeah do post back if you attempt something Pleased

I've read at wikipedia about gramine being present in the roots. I don't know how valid is this statement or how much gramine is present.

Plus, there are knowledgeable people here with extraction experience from different plant sources, so you can get step-by-step advice and troubleshooting should you decide to venture on the extraction. Not many people have access to bundleflower and the spurious alkaloid content does not make it an attractive material, especially when it's price is not as good as mhrb. But you should consider yourself luck to have found this source and I believe starting to play with this plant is almost imperative.

In herbcraft usually when the roots are the part to harvest, the best time to collect them is Autumn, after the fruits matured and the life force of the plant return underground, before winter. Also the early spring is good.

I remember back when DMTworld was still around marsofold did an extraction on a pound of Desmanthus illinoensis using the whole root not just the rootbark and it did not yield more then one dose if I remember correctly.I have also read that Desmanthus Leptolobus has a more consistent alkaloid content.I also live in the midwest and have seen illinoensis growing all over the place.I have also seen leptolubus just not as often.I don't really have any more info then that.
Once in a while you get shone the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
