SWIM decided to open a new topic on his experiment. Here are the results of SWIMS experiment, in the dish to the left 6% acidity white wine vinager evaporated turned into toffe coloured goo and in the dish to the right a 5% glacial acetic acid solutiopn completely evaporated leaving no trace.20ml where used and there is no limonene , cactus nor heat involved. At least SWIM knows where goo is comming from.Probably not ALL vinagers will react the same but there are hundreds of brands and types that using vinager for SWIM is too much of a variable...But when using a vinager like this one(that produces goo) there would have to be considerations in the end product, like dosage weight for instance. oneistheall attached the following image(s): gootest.jpg (190kb) downloaded 423 time(s).im just a blue reindeer, dont listen to me, listen to her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ABIkH7m0s

Extracted from Wikipedia: “Vinegar is an acid liquid produced from the fermentation of ethanol in a process that yields its key ingredient, acetic acid (ethanoic acid). It also may come in a diluted form. The acetic acid concentration typically ranges from 4% to 8% by volume for table vinegar and up to 18% for pickling. Natural vinegars also contain small amounts of tartaric acid, citric acid, and other acids. Vinegar has been used since ancient times and is an important element in European, Asian, and other cuisines.“ So maybe this other acids are determining factors... im just a blue reindeer, dont listen to me, listen to her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ABIkH7m0s

"distilled vinegar" is fairly common around here, used for cooking and cleaning. It is supposed to be 5 percent acetic acid in water with no other fermentation byproducts.

Great experiment. So the Goo is the vinegar itself.... interesting. Thanks for sharing; now I know for sure that the next extraction is going to be a HCL one.

^ you probably wont regret it If you cant get good quality HCl, you can purify it. -- Simple and interesting test. Thanks for sharing “The most important thing in illness is never to lose heart.” -Nikolai Lenin

I know some people who prefer xylene to limonene because they think limo makes a dirtier product, but limo always works fine ime. Hcl crystals are so cool to look at I don't even think about making acetates anymore Other options: carbonate, sulfate, citrate, and maybe some other more obscure salts are all possible, but take a bit more skill than titrating with hcl/acetic.

Nice results. was the final yield (after MEK wash) based on all the pulls?
It looks like your own acid mix turns out better than pure vinegar. The pure vinegar dries up far more oily.
For the HCL I'm going to do the 69ron HCL variant. It looks like HCl is the easiest way to get nice powdery crystals.

Wow. Those look really beautiful and even without purifying. Looks like you discovered the Goo factor by proving the vinegar to be a major contributor to the Goo.

nice!! cleanest acetates I've ever seen. I thought they were hcl when I first saw the pic.

oneistheall wrote:material was bioassayed at 200mg with a friend and proved to be very rewarding producing great vibes, laughs and a great time overall.Total yield was 3.750gr.(started with 200gr dryed chips.)The only deviation from the original tek was the use of a home made acetic acid solution instead of vinagar, longer soaking times, one more soak and the use of the same limo during the whole process( apart from 20% aditional fresh limo to compensate for the winagar that stayed in the cactus after the first soak). No heat was used to dry the material( it was dryed in a home made dessicant box with silica gel and calcium chloride).Had much care not to let any limo into de salted solution.Hot water bath was used to help perfect separation of limo and vinagar and a magnetic stirrer was used to vortex limo+acidic solution during 15-20 minutes for each salting.First 2 soaks where evaporated in separate dishes and proved to have the purer and most abundant material. The remaining mush and limo are still soaking and in a week time will be used to experiment with hcl, after that limo will be used to clean swims kitchen and bathroom! wow 3.750gr from 200 gr, of skin are anut 1,9% crude alks! 9 doses from 200grams are good, so 25g of skin are enough for a swim Tz'is aná

That's a great yield. Can you describe in what measurements you made your own acetic acid?

actually swim misscalculated the yield,it was a bit more : 3.972g. almost 2% . Dimitrix: almost 20 200mg doses! thats awesome and really good pricewise.Swim used to drink the tea by the river in the mauntains and usally prepared 40g doses for him and his friends to have really intense experiences with nature, a whole sence of connection and healing.A 100-200mg dose can be more urban beacause its not that strong, but I guess that a 350 dose could get more like the 40g experiences SWIM had and swim would not use it in a city, a 400-500 can bet more mystical even and certainly psychedelic.Swim would not go above the 500-600mg mark. All really depends on the setting.Swim generally likes to do it in nature in places of power (energy) like the people in the Andes do it cause the nectar is a healing teacher.Acetate is a great discovery because latelly swim was having more and more trouble drinking the tea, though it was very worth it swim every time he was drinking it said he was not going to do it again... Poekus: Making the solution is very easy. One needs glacial acetic acid wich is pure acetic acid (dry). To make a 5% solution swim mixed 950ml of tap water (if you wanna be perfectionist one could use destilled) and added 50ml of glacial acetic acid, mixed for 20 mins in a strirrer and thats it.I guess stirring time is irrelevant, just mix very well. One last coment is for the gear, a magnetic stirrer and a sep. funnel are great investments.Patience is mandatory. im just a blue reindeer, dont listen to me, listen to her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ABIkH7m0s
