Does anyone else feel that psychedelics have reverse tolerance? Options

I often see or hear complaints from people saying that they've tripped so many times that psychedelics no longer give them very much in the way of visual or mental alterations. Now, I can understand the concept of tripping too often and building up tolerance to the effects of the same doses over and over, but it really doesn't take that long of a break for that tolerance to drop. Personally, I've always felt that each time I trip has the potential to be deeper than the previous time, regardless of dose. I don't mean to say that you can dose smaller and smaller and still trip harder like with salvia, but for example... taking four hits of acid for your first time after, say, two hits as your max is definitely a new experience, much more than just the effects of two hits but twice as intense. However, taking two hits again after that isn't the same experience as before either, at least from what I've experienced. Rather than being the same trip, it's actually expanded to reach the potential of the four hit trip, only this time it's less intense. So I never really understand how people can just "stop getting anything" out of psychedelics, are you guys with me on this? And it doesn't just apply to certain drugs either, like I'm sure lots of people here are familiar with changes to a shrooms trip before and after using DMT, and after high doses of acid I've done every other psychedelic has gotten more expansive. I was actually pretty happy when I first caught on to this because I feel like as long as I've gone deep enough into some substances I can get more out of the ones with a much lower safety profile (i.e., some of the RCs).

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I think it depends on the substance. I've experienced tolerance with cacao and kratom, but a reverse tolerance with Ayahuasca (extremely so!).
Some things will come easy, some will be a test

It is definitely that way with psychedelics. Substances that alter you more mentally than physically. Other substances like stimulants, euphoric stimulants, opioids, tolerance can build fairly quickly and you find yourself doubling and tripling dosages to get to the same place as previously.

It is a blessing and also something that I've worried about. These psychedelics are altering me permanently. Seemingly not in any negative sense, but the change does seem to be permanent. I think it's just that with repetition, you learn to navigate these head spaces and with more travel, the path gets broader and easier to follow. We're all resistant to change on some level, and that's why I've worried about it.

With Salvia Divinorum you definitely experience reverse tolerance.

Many years ago (when it was still legal where I live) I started with 10x and 20x extracts and had some nice breakthrough experiences.

The more often I did it, the less I needed. In the end I only needed about 1-2 plain leaves (smoked) to get similar results.

And yes, same thing is true for ayahuasca.

Definitely Salvia. That is the most apparent to me as well. But also psilocybe mushrooms, LSD, LSA containing seeds, and even some psychedelic RC's.

oh yeah. i agree! lsd, for me, is almost more fun in smaller doses. it seems a lot easier to accept the lessons. i feel that if you crack your head open enough, it heals back softer and softer each time. like you are more accepting of the drug. i have left off at some points in a trip and the next time i dosed, picked up right where i left off.

last time i tripped, i had a beautiful ego death. the trip before it, i felt fear coming on and just decided to take a benzo and sleep it off. so i ate 2 hits last time, had absolutely none of my normal blast off jitters. it was kinda weird. then...the fear came on at the end. i knew i needed to just let myself die so i set up a comfortable situaion to lose my mind and just let it ride. 2 hits put me right back where i left off.

and then there's weed...weed makes me trip, sometimes. not a full blown experience but the CEVs and mental state and thought processes. but yeah...small hits can put me there, too...
embrace your nothingness...it's all you are...

Getting comfortable with the psychedelic may also play a part, you probably allow yourself to relax a little bit more and let yourself go easier and deeper.

I find nitrous to have a reverse tolerance. My first night combining nitrous and marijuana I did 6 whippets in a row (breathing in between of course) and had some nice hallucinations. A few weeks later I did three and had something pretty close to ego death.

Good to know I'm not alone. Smile The first time it really became apparent to me was when I took a pretty large dose of some good acid a while back... I'll spare the details, but needless to say I was out of my mind. (I dosed early in the morning at my house, and I watched the day go by outside until it was late at night and I was starting to regain some sense and thinking that my trip might be ending... only to suddenly realize that I had been tricking myself about the time, it had only been about four hours and I had much tripping still left to go, and I looked outside to see the night sky and stars turn inside out and becoming the blindingly bright morning light and clouds again.) Before this trip I had just wanted to continuously dose higher and higher on acid but since then I've been able to take smaller doses, like the next trip I did that was 4 hits and my most recent one that was 6, and get phenomenal results that I never would have expected from those doses beforehand. It really put the trip into a whole new perspective, and not just LSD but everything else I've tried since then, too.

I agree, for me after I started using DMT, my Mushroom experiences seemed many times stronger. Now if I take 1.5 or 2g of mushrooms I can achieve quite deep and visual peak.
I believe that the "Breaking open the head" comment earlier was on track. I feel like every psychedelic experience, heck and just life experience in general, teaches me deeper ways to feel. As the depth of my awareness increases, the depth of my psychedelic experiences increase as well.
All statements made by Once have no basis in reality, if reality even exists.

^^I've experienced the same thing regarding mushrooms, following use of DMT and ayahuasca, and I've also experienced this with ayahuasca and Salvia. Since Iboga, my trips with mushrooms and ayahuasca have deepened further.
