Has anyone used a GVG or VG regularly for vaporizing weed?

I like joints but if a VG is really that good, it might allow a person to avoid using tobacco completely. I tried with a regular pipe but straight weed in a pipe hurts.

It works great with the Ganja. Not harsh.

I don't smoke weed if I do 'ingest' weed......Only vape.

In my experience, vaping weed with a gvg is twice as efficient as smoking it in a joint (meaning you need half the amount for the same effects).

AFOAF just got his but I don't see how it is possible to use with freebase, which is a real disappointment. Changa, sure...but the powdered freebase will just drop right through the stainless steel screen, no? He had to make some changa, which was completed this morning, so it may be a few days before he knows if it was worth the $100.00 expenditure.

Nothing to fear, Nature Boy! Simply cut up a small pad from a copper scrubby, that fits securely in the GVG mouth and lightly sprinkle your elf-spice upon this elegant pillow. See here for more details.

Leaf bed....with an herb you like and doesn't add to the effect that much, if that's what you're looking for...straight spice nice.

Or some people, I think, say you can use several screens (like seven or eight?) and that works. I don't know that personally.

Then, I've seen the copper scrub method. That's an option. I've seen that somewhere. I'm not sure if you have to clean it or not first, by burning it or something?

use either the brillo pad that ragbar linked to or, lay down a few screens then a little bit of herb like say mullein, sprinkle your freebase on that and vape away.

It's not necessary to use changa in a GVG! Using pure spice in the GVG is easy, you just need something to hold it.

or use the cheap and made-to-vaporize innert stainless steel "liquid pad" sold for the volcano vaporizer. Just cut it up to fit the genie and you're good to go

More details on the liquid pad please!

Is it easy to cut to size? What did you use to cut it? Do you end up with a bunch of loose wires, or does it hold together? Can you adjust the thickness, or is the thickness good as is? Any leakage of spice? Any un-vaporized spice left behind? Does it affect air flow?

Okay, thanks for the advise. I've tried to use the GVG a couple times since the unpleasnt mistake and was a little too hesitant in my attempts. I'll give it a go again tonight, and hopefully my next post will be in the "dmt experiences" category. Smile

Once the ceramic element gets red I'm moving the flame away pretty quick. I have actually left it too close too long and the changa in the bowl combusted and I had flame in the bowl area. I got a quick rush or surge of thick smoke and $^#^%#!@#$*&**!!!!!! WHAM!!!! Oh My!
I knew instantly that I had inhaled way too much vapor\smoke. I was overwhelmed. The blastoff was so intense. I remember thinking I had really "done it" this time. I experienced a total amnesia of that event.

as corpus callosum stated, practice makes perfect.

Right. Well, a lot of attention to technique is needed at first i suppose. I imagine once you have it, you have it. Like riding a bike only way cooler. Heh.

Try a heat gun. It is much more forgiving. As much as I tried, I never managed to overheat or burn the spice or changa with it.

I was actually thinking of the heat gun during my break after the mistake. I saw your post on it before, im definitely keeping it in mind for hopefully the near future or something reasonable. I just got the Arch about a month ago (nice piece), but as of right now my funds are very limited (just lost my job last weekSad waiting for unemployment to float me by til i get another job). My friend was also talking about getting one. maybe i can use his if he buys his first.

I'm also using one of these pads and its really just perfect. No leakage at all. The thickness is just right. It pulls real easy and it always looks clean when i'm done.
It vapes perfectly every time, not much technique needed.

I used wire cutters to trim it. the trim falls apart and some lose wire falls out of the pad but not much. just stuff it all the way down in the chamber and press it flat.
Its the MeICNU

Soulshine, have you tried using a BIC? I found easier than a torch. Just hold the BIC flame over the GVG's Top and pull the air slowly. With the help of the airflow the flame will be sucked inside the Top without touching the ceramic. DMT starts melting almost immediately and within seconds the GVG will be completely filled with vapor. Suck it all and... WHOA!
