Ok I wanted to ask this in chat, but for some reason its nt working for me...

Anyways, I had a nice set of crystals there from freezing, and after pouring the naphtha out, there was a tiny little bit left, so I tried to evap it quick... well the xstals all melted away. So I readded teh naphtha is was in and threw it back into the freeze...

My question is how do I go about this? I've read a couple different things, like pour the naphtha out, put coffee filter on instead of the lid, then put back into freezer upside down. This will work yes? It's what I'm going to try (I hope I have coffee filters though Sad )

If there is a better way please respond!

Thanks Smile

Whats happening is there is naptha under/around the crystals that is dissolving the dmt when it warms up to room temp. When freeze precipitating you will need to pour off all the solvent you can quickly and leave the glass bowl upside down on a plate inside the freezer for ~30mins, then take it out and blow a fan on it while its upside down (so that condensation does not pool in the bottom of the bowl), then tip it over and fan until the solvent smell is gone.

When leaving it in the freezer upside down, there seems to be a greater chance of ice crystals forming in it, so try and fasten a tight lid to the container.

Also, for the chat to work try using Firefox or Safari. It doesn't work for me with Internet Explorer.

How did you do that? Did you use a fan?

Re-melting never happens to me. Here is my procedure.

1. Warm the jar with my hands until there is no more condensation but the jar is still cold.
2. Open the jar and decant naphta.
3. Put the jar under a fan. As long as there is some residual naphta, quick evaporation cools the spice, the naphta and the jar. Once the naphta is gone there is nothing to dissolve the spice.
4. Dislodge and crumble the spice under gentle airflow to make sure there is no naphta trapped.
Do not seek the truth, just drop your opinions.

No, this is going to sound beginner, because I am, I used heat to evap! Haha

Anyways, thanks for the replies. I finally got it to work well, and now I have some small xstals xD

Also, I always use google chrome, it must have just been my internet or something, because right after posting I could get on... Which is weird because it seems about 15 minutes where I couldn't....

Yeah dont use heat - the xtals melt even on a hot radiator

On the plus side, they do not disappear totally, so you can get them back.

Break up the crystals in the naptha with a knife or something and pour through a coffee filter. The crystals will get caught in the filter and dry out nicely. I did the same thing you did the first time, very frustrating!

Yeah the idea is to pull off the rubber band and peel back some of the alfoil to pour off excess solvent, then replace that seal and stick it in the freezer upside down.
