There are two dishes of naptha evaporating.

First dish: as the naptha evaporated, it left behind a sticky goo, and within that goo, some crystallization is going on. It appears that it will stay sticky.

The second dish: After evapping for two days it was set in the refrigerator overnight (and just now in the freezer). In the morning, before putting it in the freezer, there was crystallization floating around, along with tiny bubbles of what appears to be oil (most likely the same material which is the goo on the evap plate). Should the

Should the second dish be left in the freezer? What is the best method to get the crystals out of the naptha without catching these goo/oil bubbles in the same container? A method of picking the crystals out one by one with a fork might be used.

As for the evap dish that has not been in the freezer yet, there is the goo and crystals all mixed in together. Should this be added to naptha again and then put in the refrigerator/freezer like the other dish? Otherwise it appears that the goo and crystals will not separate.

Pictures displayed below:

Update:

The crystals were taken out of the naptha that was in the refrigerator/freezer. The remaining naptha was then poured into a cup. Strangely, there are two layers of liquid in the cup, shown in the picture below. The bottom layer actually froze when placed in the freezer. Any idea of what liquid this may be? No idea how water would have gotten in there, especially that quantity.

The first picture is of the two layers, and crystals can be seen where the layers meet.

The second picture was taken from under the cup, showing the oil bubbles collecting on the bottom.

As is said in alot of the first timer's posts and stickies on page one: Pictures cannot tell a thousand words in this case, onerealy has to be there to make a call on something like this... But, if I were to guess, you got water in there, big guy, considering naptha won't freeze in a conventional house freezer, and the naptha is floating on top. pour off your alkaloid laden solvent into another jar, make sure it is air tight and to get the xtals on the ice layer, get some room temp (NOT HOT) naptha and swish about 5-10 mL on the icecube, and collect that in a seperate dish for evap.
NowHere.
