HI!

I had a couple questions. First, assume someone is using lye with mimiosa mud and naphtha. I was wondering if anyone thinks it's a good idea to purposely shake the hell out of the mixture to form an emulsion. THEN, after you let it sit for a while, add so much water to the emulsion that it will surely separate the naptha from the water. I thought this may be a good method because it ensures a very intimate mixture of the naphtha with the mimosa + dmt. I thought maybe this would result in high yeilds, and you wouldn't have to be careful about formng an emulsion.

My second question is about consistency of the mimosa + lye mix. Does it matter if the mimosa/lye mix is really watery? Why or why not? I figured that if it's watery, then I won't have to worry about an emulsion. But does a watery miomsa mix result in lower yeilds for some reason? Thank you very much.

That would be a good experiment - extract equal amounts of bark side by side both ways.
My experience has been that once you lose your naptha to the mud sludge, you never get it or the alks trapped in it back again, but it woul be worth 50g or so of bark to find out for sure.
Do it and post your results!

Failed. Surprisingly, no amount of water or anything seemed to help Sad

yeah it could works in swim opinion..maybe add some salt to the solution and maybe swim could use a vibrating device to breack it,like electric toothbrush, but really dunno,it could increase emulsion too Confused

I did this with my first extraction & managed to get the Naphtha back, i just added a lot of salt & lye, shook it again, put it on a gentle heater for an hour & the Naphtha separated, it almost worked too well and pulled a lot of red gunk from the mimosa.

Something that has helped me deal with emulsions is to suck the emulsion bubbles up with the syringe and then put that into a different container to decant again.

As the emulsions go into the syringe, it breaks everything up and all the dookie falls to the bottom of the 2nd decant container.

When I use a ratio of 1:1:15 (bark:lye:water) I can shake the container like hell and always get a clean, complete separation after a few hours.
